Here is a pic of a 1971 Plymouth Duster I have been working on for the last 4 years. I don't mean to get off topic, but I just want everyone to know who I am, and what I am about. My father bought this car new in 1971. In 1979 my family became too large for it, so it was sold to my grandparents. My grandfather kept up all the maintenance on the car himself. The car was re-painted green, and had spoke hubcaps installed. I guess the orange was too bright for them. Sadly, when I was four years old, he passed on. My grandmother continued to drive the car until 1994, when she decided not to drive anymore. The car was given back to my father. My younger brothers and I then used this car to learn how to drive. (Still green then). In 1996, one of my younger brothers repainted the outside of the car back to the original color. By this time, the car was wore out mechanically. It sat in the garage at my parents house, waiting on a restoration that we all never thought would happen. One day, 4 years ago, I asked my father if I could finish the car. It thrilled him that one of us wanted to finish it. I towed the car to my house, and proceeded to take it all apart. After I finished with the teardown, I painted the bottom of the car, and the engine compartment. I rebuilt the motor, bought a new transmission, and replaced all suspension components. My dad had the seats re-covered, and I installed new carpet, and a new headliner. We installed new wheels, brakes, and virtually everything on the car that could be replaced. The car means so much to our whole family, and it has a lot of family history. When the car is completely done, it will be returned to my dad... and one day, be handed down to one of us children..Anyhow, here is the picture of what it looks like today...
Thanks for reading my story!
