Oh!! I do wish you luck.
It is one of the most difficult things to do.
I smoked for 23 years and tried everything to quit and nothing did the trick.
My dreambird, life, soulmate, whatever you want to call it for me would be a Timneh and I could not in good concience provide a home for one and still have the chain of tobacco hanging from my leg.
I quit, from one day to the next, just like that, cold turkey and it was not a fun thing nor easy to do. I am now "clean" for a little over a year and I feel great.
If everything goes as planned then I shall be getting my Timneh sometime this summer.
If you can get over the first week, (actually 3 days) then you are over the physical addiction and the rest is all in your head.
It will not be easy and I shall keep the both of you in my prayers.
Good Luck!!!

Tammy:

I am so happy that you've made that decision. I was a volunteer for Hospice of the Chesapeake and EVERY one of my dying patients had lung cancer from smoking. It was horrible watching the dearest people drown in their own bodily fluids. Frankly, I don't have an extra $30 to blow on anything that turns to ash in a few minutes.

I'll keep my fingers crossed and say a little prayer for you with the man upstairs. He likes his "temples" smoke free

From one smoker to another, I wish you the best of luck! I have been smoking way to long, and haven't the desire to give it up just yet. However, our house is smoke-free for the fids, which was a huge sacrifice, especially in the winter when it is a bit nippy out! Let me know how it goes and what helped you to quit!

Antidepressants! They don't do a thing for the cravings... I have just been toughing those out. But, they really help with the mood swings. One time me and my ex tried to quit at the same time and we about ripped each other's heads off. So they help with the "grouchies".

I have kids (1 with asthma) plus the birds so we don't smoke in the house either. The hardest part for me is my husband has not quit, combine that with me being spineless and weak I have slipped back a few times. But, am determined to get rid of this affliction!
