I love crows but we don't have very many where I am. The most I've seen out here is 4! I would love to come up there & get some from you!! I think there's too many loose dogs/cats in our neighborhood for there to be too many. There isn't a leash law in the county nor animal control so we have lots of animals running loose out here.

Here in the San Diego area we have an over abundance of Ravens that darken the skies during certain times of the day.
If any of you are interested you might want to check out any of the following books/publications dealing with Ravens:
http://www.uvm.edu/~biology/Faculty/.../Heinrich.html

He writes very well and is easy to read and understand. They are truly amazing birds and are next to the Kea one of the most intelligent birds on the planet.
The way to tell a Raven from a Crow is not necessarily by size as both Corvus Brachyrhynchos (Crow) and Corvus Corax (Raven) come in various sizes but rather the tail.
When they are in flight a Crows tail at the end is an even line straight across and a Ravens is arced.

I've also been told by wildlife peeps that if you see it in an urban/suburban setting, it's probably a crow. Out in the country, it's more than likely a raven. Who knew?

Tiki ~The crow probably thought that all those birds in your aviary had a good thing going & wanted to check out the eats - not necessarily cockatiels as eats. They're egg stealers and opportunists. Crows & Ravens - i think in certain areas they are one or the other not both. I think they're interesting as I had one when I was a teenager.

THey are like most birds - a lot smaller that they look - it's mostly feathers.

However a ton of them is understandably bad news = but worse than the blackbird migrations we have in the fall - the skies are black & the ground is poopy.

I do have the extra strength pet screens in the bedroom (which aren't as strong as the Crimsafe ones in the bird room) so he couldn't have gotten through easily. Plus Manu is a lutino so he might have thought a small yellow bird was easy pickings. We are having a drought now so normal food may be slim pickings.
