Well there is Harry Potter.........LOL my personal favorite, but lacking a bit in the blood & guts dept. My other favorite is the Nightmare On Elm Street series, except for the last one when he fights Jason. But I love the dream parts, some of them are so real.

4Hand....I have seen The Changling, but it was quite a while ago.....must watch it again.

The movies that really scare me, are ones about hauntings, or demons, the supernatural. Did anyone see Fire In The Sky? It's based on a true story of a guy who is abducted by aliens. The scenes of what happened to him with the aliens was truely disturbing. and scary.

I had gone to the Catskills on vacation and had a great room on the end which gave me an extra window behind my bed with just grass and trees outside it. I had this great idea that I was going to leave the blinds open so the sun would wake me gently in the morning. Unfortunately, while tucking myself into this big comfy bed I was channel surfing and came acroess Jeepers Creepers II where the kids are in the school bus and this monster is on top of the bus looking down into the rear window. Ok, not so realistic but scarey enough because I was alone to make be close those blinds.

The Saw movies are very disturbing and have problems watching it. Especially the scene where she has to jump into the pit of syringes. UGGGH...yuck.

Gbird,if I remember right,Fire in the Sky starred D.B. Sweeney.I had the hots for him back then!Another one of my faves is Ghost Story with Fred Astair about four young men who drown a woman in their car and her subsequent revenge as a ghost. On a different note, has anyone had a "supernatural" experience firsthand?....Three years ago I while shoveling fresh snow I saw a man enter the gate that leads to my horse pasture. This was at 5am and just starting to get light outside.Thinking it was my husband going out to feed I kept working. When I was done I returned to the house to find him still asleep. Now I was freaked that some stranger was out by my horses so I took my dog and headed out there. No dude.....no tracks in the snow....just a feeling that I might be loosing it.

EDIT: Let me take a moment to write a "novel" here... and for you to "maybe read it"....

Being that I watch just about anything, and I do mean "anything". I rented and watched all the Saw movies as they came out. Like many others here, I loved the fact the entire movie series was based on a very twisted and well thought out plot. Anymore this series isn't about what's in it, but what will be the twist to come at the end and can you figure it out ahead of time?

Saw IV came up lacking compared to the first (which was the best IMHO). It was non-stop story twists and the ending actually didn't make hardly any sense. I mean before the "tape" part (trying not to ruin the film for others). Also, it was just too much of a blood bath compared to earlier versions. But I do say that it's a must see for Horror/Gorror movie fans.

I can't remember which one it was (one or two) that had the whole pit of needles thing... While the thought of jumping into a pit full of dirty/used bloody seringes and sweeping thru them madly as if they were just pieces of paper on the floor with your hands makes my skin crawl and me grab hold of my hands (feeling the pain thru the screen), I think that the first Saw was the worst of the series.

I know of a lot of people who don't like horror flicks. Myself, I find little "too disturbing"; as the reality of it is that there are - in most cases - sicker things happening in the real world. And I must admit that the Horror film industry does desensitize me somewhat towards that reality. It does keep me aware of the fact that it's not a "powder puff" world and everything is not "feel good, be good, we can all heal/help each other", but that true attrocities and horror do very much so exist - just read your news papers or listen to your local news. (Not to stir up a religeous discussion, but even the bible is full of some horrific stories and depictions of the tremendous attrocities of man - I'll end it at that as this could be a seed for contention and debate and I'm in no way qualified to debate religion with anyone nor hold any reservations about religion for anyone. So no more on that from me.) I just choose to confront horror "head on". (Plus, I love to get the old heart racing and blood pumping from time to time. Nightmares keep me on my toes.)

I thought that "the Grudge" and "the Grudge 2" was going to be a good flick but it dissappointed me. I want to see the new Stephen King (I think it was Stephen King) movie about the fog and the town help captive by it in the local supermarket - The Mist. Also the one with Will Smith and he's the last man alive on modern earth - I am Legend. That one looks really good.

On the non-horror side, I want to see that "spoof" about the movie 300 (BTW.. awesome movie IMHO) and all the other new movies that are about to/have come out - Meet The Spartans. "Come on... Can you quit kicking people into the endless pit of death already?" That just looks too funny. "You've been served!"

Actionflick side - I'm in a small debate with myself to go and see the new "Rambo". Silvester Stallone is getting a bit old (literally) and I'm just not seeing "grandpa" as an action flick hero anymore. The last "Rocky Balboa" movie really stunk IMHO. I didn't like it as obviously it was designed to be basically have him end his carrier the same way he begun it in Rocky, which was to loose the fight - and I think the acting actually was pretty bad. But non-the-less, I will probably rent it when it comes out.

Reality Flick: The Pursuit of Happyness ended up as a pretty good movie (shocking twist of a plot for will Smith to be part of - showed he can actually a multi-dimentional actor IMHO).

The Lord of the Rings Trilogy was pretty good. I do wish they had included the first part of it tho with Bilbo's journey. I understand that the first one was originally a childrens tale/book of his journey. When JRR Token found out that it was so widely accepted by adults and that people "wanted" to hear more he continued to write the other three parts, but geared them for all ages. I have the cartoon series of all of it on DVD and have had it for quite some time (years).

My favorite movie of all time though is something you all would never guess if you were to judge me by the movies listed above.... The Shawshank Redemption.... Oh ya.... now there's a non-horror flick that almost depicts something that "...could happen..." yet has a huge plot twist at the end revealed.

I could go on and on, as I truely watch a lot of movies... NOT TV... but movies... daytime and evening TV for the past couple of years has been a joke. So, I find it boring... tiz why I have all the time to work on BB stuff.

LOL!
Sorry, I shouldn't laugh....
but how did I know that "old enough to know the difference" line was coming!
Now please understand, I'm not trying to imply that I think any of you are such, but I find it funny because we all know that reply is most often used by the immature when doing something they know they shouldn't be in the first place...
We're all wise enough to know it's nothing more than a self serving indulgence no matter how you wish to package it.
Hollywood makes it so easy to sit back, get terrified/grossed out for an hour or so, but be comfortable in the fact that it was "just a movie"...

The most horrifying thing about many of those storylines is there's a lot less "fantasy" than you think...
Oh sure, they've changed the names and maybe even the location, but many of them are based on real events.

"Hostel" for example, is based on the story of a true hotel of horrors where innocent hikers & travellers were kidnapped by the people running the place. The poor victims were then sold to anyone who had the $ - to be raped, tortured & then slaughtered.
"The Hills have Eyes" -no they really weren't irradiated mutants, just a bunch of inbred, back-country bumpkins that captured, tortured and ATE those unfortunate enough to be lost in their neck of the woods.
Texas Chainsaw Massacre's "Leatherneck" was really a severely psychotic person who felt that his life was so insignificant that he needed to become someone else.... and would literally peel the skin off his victims and wear them like a cheap suit in order to complete the facade.

You can't argue the fact that there is a problem with our society when huge amounts of monetary rewards are given to people for their glorification of crime, torture and mutilation.

Tena - I've been to a few haunted places.
Some are only a little unsettling - others bring on feelings of loss, threat, fear, or revulsion that are so strong it's difficult for even the spiritually numbed to ignore.
The most brain twisting encounter I've had pushed me through a whole range of emotions.

Boredom- unlocking, doing rounds, then having to lock everything up.

Disappointment- setting the building keys down on a table and less than 5 mins later finding they're missing.

Frustration- searching everywhere accessible trying to find them only to have to spend 45 mins driving back to the main office get the extra set.

Creeped outta my skin - finding the missing keys..... on the other side of 3 locked doors; two of which had locks keyed on BOTH sides - meaning you needed those keys to lock the door in the first place.

I watch Ghost Whisperer purely for entertainment. It's based on things that have happened to James VanPrague.Or are you thinking more like John Edwards talking to the dead stuff?I have an open mind.Anything is possible, but I question anyone who is making their living off of claims that they can tell you something about a loved one.If I had a gift like that I would be ashamed to capitalize on it in such a way. It's fun to watch, but unless it happens to me I consider it fiction.
