Unhappy Not a bird story

I think someone has stolen my Rottie. What all can I do to try and locate him.
He has been missing since this morning. We live at the end of a long gravel driveway he has never ventured far from the yard. We have road around looking for him even went to the pound. So besides the newspaper what can I do. My nerves are tore all to piece.

I forgot to mention that he has been neutered so I know he's not out looking for a girl friend.

Contact the local vets, petstores and county animal control. Put fliers all over the area and contact the kids at the local schools to help. (Go through the teachers or principal so you don't get in trouble.)

For thoughs of you that replied thank you for your advice. He has been found. I prayed all night that he would come back home . Anyway we rode all over the place yesterday searching, calling everyone we knew. I was getting ready to place an add in the newspaper this morning. My boyfriend had to go out early I heard him come back up the driveway so I ran to the door and there was my Dozer. So relieved . He said he was standing in front of some duplexes about a half mile up the paved road. He came in and ate and went straight to his crate. Want get out of my sight again.

Good news! So much for believing he doesn't leave your driveway. Whew.

glad you got him back!! you could get him micro-chipped if he isnt already, that way he will be easily traced if he gets lost and someone picks him up,name tags are good but they can just be taken off if someone did steal him and then it would be your word against their word but micro-chips cant be removed.

Glad ya got him back charlieandmom.

BTW, if your Rotti was already an adult when neutered, he will still be attracted to females in estrus anywhere in the area....
he just won't be able to do anything about it when he finds them.

Oh yes...
fluffy_stitch, just so ya know -microchips are removable. They're only under the skin.
Real pros have readers now so it's relatively easy for them to find the chips...
A little slice with a box-cutter or an exacto-knife followed by a couple of quick squeezes and within a few seconds the chip is out. It only takes couple of stitches closes the cut. A single good whack with a hammer and the chip is toast.

These freaks will go to the extent of cutting off a dog's entire ear to get rid of a tatoo, so making a 2-3" incision and squeezing out the grain of rice sized transmitter is not gonna be make them squeamish.
