Well, the box got finished yesterday, and thrown away. But I did look at the label, and nowhere was zinc even mentioned. There didn`t seem to be anything but all natural ingredients in it. Here`s a link I found:

tp://www.nutritiondata.com/facts-C00001-01c20St.html#nutrients-per-serving

I think it might be a good ingredient for birdy bread, too.

And, one of their commercials features a Sun Conure, so it must be good for birds, right? lol

This has quite a bit of sodium in it as well, 0.5 zinc and 1.9 iron.

Quote:
Amounts Per Selected Serving %DV
Calcium 46.1 mg 5%
Iron 1.9 mg 10%
Magnesium 44.0 mg 11%
Phosphorus 113 mg 11%
Potassium 300 mg 9%
Sodium 204 mg 9%
Zinc 0.5 mg 3%
Copper 0.2 mg 8%
Manganese 0.1 mg 3%
Selenium 11.1 mcg 16%
Fluoride ~
Just out of curiousity, why feed cereals...... I mean most of us feed fruits, veggies, some kind of dry parrot mixes and treats, so am surious as to the cereals. Most are fortified with vitamins and some parrots are prone to iron storage issues.

i think most folks use it because, its something they will readily eat with no coaxing, and they believe, if its good for kids, it cant be bad for birds. i've seen cherios in the food bowls in most bird stores, and at public aviaries , and zoos.

Don't forget the listings are human consumption values. So if an average serving of a cereal offers 10% of minimum daily requirements (i.e., iron), that's a LOT of iron for a creature that weighs one or two or three pounds at most!

Granted, they're not getting the same serving as a human, but when you do the math, those cereals should not be offered to our birds more than once or twice a week ... and a very minimal amount at those times!

All my birds have eaten cheerios and I never had a problem, at least none that I ever saw or knew of.

Mine also love French fries, they only get one thou and no more then that. They also love anything bread and pasta, they are starch crazy.

they also eat fruits, veggies, peanut butter, oatmeal, frozen veggies, just about anything that's on the "good" list.

What about cream of wheat or red river hot cereal (red box) prepared with water? just wondering if that would be safe. I don't think my fids would try that though but other birds may. Mine dont like anything that sticks to their beaks lol.

all three of our budgies go crazy for fruits and veggies of any kind. what goes on the bars they will eat. they obviously do not require the need for suppliments as they consistantly receive fruits and veggies.
