Abused Parrots Photos and Videos

Hi all

I'm in search of photos and videos of parrots that have been killed, injured, abused, mistreated or neglected.

I'm planning to compile them into a presentation so as to raise the awareness of how much cruelty has been done to parrots intended as human "pets".

Would appreciate much if anyone can share or direct me to any such resources...thank you!!

I think people don't understand that birds need to be active and require a large cage a toys. There was an article in the Feb (I think) issue about a police officer who deals with animal abuse. It basicly says that people think of dogs and cats more when abuse and neglect is mentioned. Birds are not often seen as much, so they aren't considered as in need as dogs/cats. However, it surprises people that birds are in need as much as any other animal. It is a very sad reality...

Precisely!

And this is something I hope to change by coming up with a video with all the abused, neglected or mistreated parrots

hopefully to raise awareness.

Imprisoned Parrots

Thank you guys for the kind encouragement and contributions!

After burning some midnight oil....here's a clip i have made.

"Imprisoned Parrots" is a short video about human's exploitative relationships with parrots.

The contrasting dialectical themes between nature-culture, love-apathy, care-cruelty, etc are visually brought forth here to bring across the message of how we have been treating these ebautiful, intelligent yet innocent sentient beings we humans call parrots.

I so love and inspired by Peng Ling's Qiu Niao (Imprisoned Bird), a chinese oldie about a metaphorical caged bird losing love, freedom and being neglected that it propel me to do something about it.

This song's contexts are perfect and I use it as a soundtrack for the short film.

I dedicate this short clip to all parrots, birds and other animals who have suffered under the inhuman hands of humanity.

Here it is:http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=I_1_wK35kx8

Let's hope we have more and we can compile all of them in a resource archive on mistreatment of parrots.

I am in tears.......as some of you know, I have a friend who is very active in animal rights, mostly dogs. I have sent her so many things on Parrot abuse, just to enlighten her to the extent of cruelty these beautiful, loving birds endure.

She had no clue of the abuse these birds endure in the hands of humans who aren't educated in caring and owning a bird, or by the hands of the people who sell them for profit. (I am not talking about all breeders, I am talking about the black market that takes these birds from the wild)

The last time I tried to bring this subject up, well lets just say it didn't go well. I don't want to stop anyone from owning a parrot, but I do want them to do thier homework and make the right decision for thier lifestyle, and the quality of life of the bird.

I think it's a wonderful thing you are doing. So many people have no idea what is involved in owning one of these birds, I didn't, and did a ton of research before buying Pita, and I'm still learning. If what you're doing helps 1or 2 people stop, and do thier homework, before making a decision to own a parrot, then it's worth it.

Thanx

Look at this link...

Noel, Tomi Girl, The Cockatiel Family (Pistachio, Kiwi, Kirby, Sunshine), and Smurf are all rehomes with bad pasts...

Here's photos of Tomi Girl.... First was after I gave her a cage 3 times the one she was put in when found...

When she first arrived here, minus toys, perches, dishes...

She had gained about 12 grams maybe? But in this pic you can see how thin she was, which doesn't show how thin she was when she first came here (at 58 grams)

And at about 80 grams now.... here she is today...

If you like, lets talk about Mouth the Orange Wing as well...

While we are at it... I'll upload a few photos if I can find them all... Some will be of two cockatiels fed a wild bird seed diet, their feathers are disgusting, they were given GLOSSY COLORED paper to nest with, cage is never really cleaned, once the top amount of seed is eaten off of the food dish, it gets dumped on the bottom of the cage, the water dish is NEVER cleaned, just refilled when they see it needs water in it... And as an update, supposedly a mouse killed the male bird...

I'm sure that I have a couple pictures somewhere of an alexandrian that is getting neglected as well.... he's got a good sized cage, lost his mate, but for perches he's got a 2x4 and a thick log. For toys, it's been anything that I've given him from toys that Noel doesn't care for... He sometimes gets fed on the bottom of his cage, his water normally tends to be green most times I've seen it.... he may have it better than the tiels however he's still getting neglected and needs help... but his owner refuses to give him up.
