Why does it have to be a glass dish only??

so you don't blow up the microwave? I use pottery or china too, just not metal. Glass is the most inert though, so no danger of anything getting into the "mush".

Looks like I'm a little late in answering... but those are popular ingreadients in bird cornbread around here.

I usually boil the veggies, then use some of the water and mix into cornmeal, juice and whatever else I can find, and bake it up. Just look up a basic cornbread recipe and follow it loosely - then toss in the cooked veggies - leave out the sugar!

Great!! Thanks you guys! Jazzy is due for some of my Ekkie Mini Muffins soon! I think I'll make cornbread from scratch instead of using the Jiffy mix now!

as noted above--plastics leech a LOT of nasty things into food....especially when heated!! Things that interfere with hormones (endocrine disrupters) etc. I only use plastics (rubbermaid, etc) for SHORT term use with cold or room temp foods, never use it to heat or even to hold foods that are already hot. This is a good practice not only for your birds but for you as well!

Yeah, I won't heat anything or freeze liquid in plastic anymore..... because of leeching. I don't use plastic wrap either, and I NEVER microwave plastic.

Oh... by the way.... cornbread veggie muffins freeze REALLY well. It is nice to make a WHOLE bunch and thaw a few in the fridge at a time.
