How would I cook squash, zuccini, and green beans?

I have these ingredients and want to fix them up for Jasmine! I have no idea how to cook them, though! What is the healthiest way? I have no steamer Is that the best way?

I have a veggie steamer, but you could probably boil them for a few minutes, till they're a little soft.

Suggestion: Check out some yard sales, and thrift stores....you can pick up a decent veg steamer for a few bucks. I got one from the Salvation Army thrift store for 6 bucks and I use it just for the bird stuff.

ok ok............... I don't cook those things for my fids. They prefer them raw.

Missi-If you have a microwave, you could steam them by putting them in a glass bowl with just a little bit of water in the bottom and a paper towel or glass cover over it.

Slice the zucchini in either 1/4" rounds or sticks like carrot sticks, green beans are fine, but you didn't say what kind of squash. Cook on high 2 mins.They will still be a little crunchy.

Acorn or butternut squash are easier to cut after they are cooked. Cut in half to microwave-cook seeds separately. Cook face down on glass dish or paper towel for 4 mins. Yellow crooked neck squash you should treat like zucchini. This should get you started anyway, lol.

Aww thanks you guys! I got a bit impatient and just boiled it for 15 minutes. Jasmine loves Yellow Squash! I did the zucchini, squash, green beans, and carrots! She's liking it, but not LOVING it.

Gini, I love your steaming idea! I will try that next time if I haven't found a steamer yet :)

So I know you said you don't eat veggies...you weren't kidding! I usually bake yellow squash and quickly boil (or nuke) the other veggies. That said, I do give most green veggies to the fids raw -- only get them cooked when I cook for myself (and I kinda like them raw too!)

No ma'am, I sure wasn't kidding! Terrible, I know!

Any fresh anything (fruits OR veggies) Jasmine just PICKS at! It must be soft and warm

I have the same problem with fruits. Sophie won't eat them fresh. Volkmans (I just found this) sells 2 pound bags of dried fruit. Which Sophie and Zoey love. As for squash, I cut it into thirds length wise and put one, seeds and all, in Sophies cage. Cut another third in half and put in Zoey's and Benji's cage. The last third goes in the chopper and I put it in the mash. Sophie just goes after that squash and its fun to watch.

justput the veggies and about 1/4 cup of water in the microwave, covered, in a glass dish only! for about 2 minutes....almost like steaming andyou don't lose all the nutrients.
