My gut says that Elwood is a female. I was only wrong once about guessing on BGs. That was my Mia. However, as she's gotten older, she does look more like a hen. Elwoods feet set wide apart and straight down. Also, the head seems rounded at least from this angle. Lighting can throw things off, but judging by my overall observation, I think you have a female. Also, with the weight right in the middle of the average range and at that age, it just seems to me to be more LIKELY a hen.
Does Elwood speak very much? Both of my boys do, but neither of my hens say much or pick up new words. Anyway, that's my best guess. Anyone else want to give it a shot? THE OUTLAW

It's just like waiting to find out whether a pregnant mother is having a boy or a girl... :eusa_clap I've been going through the same thing with my Indian Ringneck... got him at 3 mths of age (no DNA testing) and had absolutely no idea whether it was a boy or girl... Hubby had already named him Othello (because I'd named a previous bird Shakespeare)... luckily he has JUST turned 1 yr (on New Years Day) and he has developed a distinct dark shadow around his neck... it must be the start of his "Ring", but full mature markings mighn't came in for another year or 2...
"Othello" isn't a very girlie name either is it... so he'd better be boy... ![]()

Sorry Laurie. Everytime I tried to reply to your post, I got called away. You will need to go to www.avianbiotech.com and order a test kit. Don't get the feather test. Frankly, the pulled chest feather hurts more than a little nail clip. They will send you the collection kit (blotter) and a return envelope. The test is about $20 and you could have the results on-line in about 5 days. Since you live in Florida (they are in Tallahassee) you could literally get yours within 3 days. Can't wait to find out for sure.
