If anyone has done Atkins before, you will know that there are 4 phases. The first phase does not include the fruits, etc that are good for you. However, as you get past the first phase you are allowed to introduce some of the stuff that is good for you, including fruit. The first phase is to get you jump started. I have not weighed this week as I don't own a scale that works. My scale is in the bathroom, which is also the cat's room, and he has laid on it so much the battery is dead!

LOL silly cats ALWAYS laying on SOMETHING even if its JUST a piece of paper on the floor! LOL I like having a scale to weigh myself occasionally or once in a blue moon... though I've been wanting to learn more about the Atkins diet so I might look up some info about it soon

Talking

Hi All: I've been on Atkins for over 1 1/2 years. I started out weighing 219 and in a little over one year I went down to 152. My husband says I'm very strict with myself but, that is how I lost almost 70 lbs. I still am on a modified Atkins, always counting the carbs. I do allow myself a treat at least once a month and sometimes a little more often. I do weigh myself every day and if I find I have crept up a pound or two I get strict with myself. I also walk outside 3 miles a day every day except one during the week. That includes days that is snowing, cold (-25 windchill), icey or just plain nice. Lately those days are few and far between. :aiwebs_01 I also take Tai Chi twice a week. I really don't miss all those carbs like potatoes, noodles or rice. They make a wonderful bread that is 9 carbs per serving which is two slices. They also have a wonderful orange juice that is 3 carbs per 8 oz. now. The only thing that they haven't done is make a really sinful pie or candy that doesn't have that sugar alcohol in it. Boy does that give my stomach something to think about. A lot of the resturants around here (Waterloo, Iowa) have variations on their menus so you can eat without destroying you diet. I guess I will always be a low carb dieter, I tried all those "eat right, count calories and excercise" diets and never lost a pound. I was so happy when the first week on this diet I lost 10 lbs that that gave me the boost to keep going. Now, I love to go clothes shopping and you should see the wardrobe I have now. :icon_smil I also need to keep this weight off because my dr. told me a month ago that I have a lot of osteoartheritis with bone spurs in my neck and lower back. I have to stay thin and very active or I will cripple up like an old prune. :aiwebs_00 The most important thing is that you loose your weight and don't put it back on, no matter what diet you choose. Oh and don't forget to drink lots of water.

WOW, Dusty, 70 pounds is really impressive-congrats!

I am currently at 36% of my midway goal......and 23% of my ultimate goal. Still have the target set at April for midway and Sept for ultimate. I have been very strict with myself and still plateaued last week. Maybe it was the diet jello? The package said 9 calories per serving and zero carbs so I thought it was safe....maybe not though? On the low carber forum, someone said that products with aspartame makes them stall--has anyone else disocvered this? Anyway no diet jello this week--see how I go.

Tiki: I wouldn't think Jello would make you plateau. My husband and I eat in all the time, we put a big dallop of Cool Whip and walnuts on top. That is a wonderful dessert. I understand about the aspartum but, I don't think there is enough in Jello to matter. I think they are more concerned about you drinking large amounts of pop or juice with it in it. Some times as you lose more and more it takes time to show up. I know after I lost quit a bit I would go three weeks and not lose a pound. All of a sudden in one weekend I would lose 3 lbs. You body has to adjust to the weight loss and it doesn't always show up right away. In Aktins book he says you are not in a stall until you have been at one weight for a month.

Wow Dusty - what a wonderful success story! :eusa_clap
Hey Tiki - you are doing great! Keep up the good work. :eusa_clap
I have been losing, though I can't tell you how much as I don't own a scale. I can tell by the way my clothes fit. I have yet to fit into my busy schedule a time to walk - it may have to be on my lunch hour at work................30 minutes a day of walking HAS to be better than nothing!
Seafood is the best way to lose those pounds FAST. I have found a wonderful salmon that I like to eat at least 3 times a week.

Hi there I am currently on the Atkins diet, I was on it a few years ago after I had my last child an in three months I had lost 23 pds. I currently have about 15 pds to lose now, its been awhile since I was on it. Just started again on Monday. Over the lousy feeling hump, thank goodness. If you are having a group, then sure I would join or chat with you. Janet.

Updates

How is everyone doing? I know Tiki is kicking some butt with her diet!
As for myself, I am losing slowly but surely. Still no scale here, but I can tell by my clothes. I have so much to lose that it will certainly take a while, and I have to learn to be patient! I have learned that there are carbs in EVERYTHING, even a stick of gum. That has been part of my problem; I am more conscious of the "hidden" carbs and have given up a lot, including that carb solution creamer. There are carbs in there, along with the sugars. DARN! Hate to waste my precious carbs on creamer, so now drink the coffee black.................................. :eusa_wall
Hope everyone is doing well -

I'm hanging in there, Laurie! Last week I was stuck for 5 days with no loss (and I wasn't cheating) but I have started moving downwards again. :eusa_clap I basically stick to induction except for a few days where I hit 25 gms carbs. So far I am at 45% of the midway target and 28% of the ultimate goal. I met my goal for this month, by the skin of my teeth! I do weigh in daily and do weekly measurements and I have a good loss of inches for the month too! My work uniform purchased last Nov is VERY loose!

This weekend, I am going to Sydney, my friend there is a certified personal trainer and she is going to do a customized exercise program for me!
