My first bird was a budgie. He was over at my grandmothers house while my mother was spraying the house with raid. At the time I also had another budgie who lived with him (this second bird was my third one, the second died from unknown reasons a day after purchasing). The first budgie was named White Waters (though he was the opposite of what white waters really are). Besides those two budgies, a hamster was also there for the same reasons (the hamster belonged to my sister).
I don't have White Waters anymore because our cat (at the time, really she was almost full grown, and was, unknowingly a pregnant), had jumped up on the cage, knocked it over, and the door fell open. She went for one of the birds, while the other flew into the kitchen. Sadly to say, White Waters was killed... The cat had to live there, she was really a new neighbors cat that I had found, and we were not allowed to have animals where we were living at the time...

My first bird, 28 years ago, was a yellow parakeet, named Tweety. :D
I have lived with nearly every species since then.

We had parakeets when we were kids, but the first bird I've had since then is Feathers, a beautiful lutino cockatiel. He was given to me while I was waiting for my lace-wing pearl cockatiel, Sugarfoot, to wean so I could bring her home. Even though they're something like 8 years apart in age, they've become something of a pair and I love them dearly.

The very first bird that I ever had was a little sparrow baby that fell out of its nest and my Mom and I raised it feeding the half naked little thing with a toothpick and white bread soaked in eggyolk.
Her name was Hansie and she lived with us for about 4 years if I remember correctly. She was forever sistting ono my Moms shoulder protecting her from anyone that got too close. She would hunker down and spread those little wings and curse up a storm nu till you went away. And if you did manage to get too close she would launch herself right at you and fly real tight spirals around your head trying to get at soft spots. I don't remember what ever happened to her as I was only around 6 or 7 years old at the time but some of those things stuck with me and still make me smile to this day. |

My first bird was a white duck. Daddy bought her when I was probably 5 years old. She was the best watch dog we ever had. One time the neighbors house was burglarized, and then they hopped the fence and hit the house behind us also. One of the police officer's said were they in your yard? He looked over the fence and our duck had a feather flying screaming fit. He said Oh I guess not.... lolololol. We used to drag her with us everywhere we went, she was bonded to us and would follow us around. We had a baby pool for her in the back yard and would play out there with her for hours at a time.
Daddy let her loose in a park with a duck pond. I still have not forgiven him. It was either that or let him eat her. My brother and I were hysterical that he was going to eat her so daddy said we had to take her to the park. I still don't let myself think of what could have happened to her. It was terrible, she kept trying to follow us. I don't know who was more hysterical at that point me or the duck. I just hope that people were kind enough to feed her.
