Well, I was out sofa shopping today and I was looking at red leather. I don't know when I sobbered up, but the idea of 10 parrots eating my $2000 sofa made me skeedaddle, and heck, I'm a trimmer!

Nancy, a friend of mine went into a furniture store and told the sales person she wanted a sofa the color of bird poop! And I can tell you from experience that it isn't fun watching a beak rip a hole in your new leather sofa!

I actually own a leather couch, recliner, and overstuffed chair. The only real tearing has been on the seams and I can fix that easily enough. I wouldn't give up my leather furniture for anything - tears and all. Heck, this old body needs a good place to sit once in a while!

I've got a leather sofa and chair also. So far, the birds haven't tried to chew them, but of course, I supervise them all the time. I love the furniture because it's so easy to wipe the poo off.

Speaking of furniture, I have very little. Wood (and leather, Nancy) doesnt work very well, except as substitute chew toys in a houseful of large hookbills. Watch out for wood window trim, and other molding, the edges of open doors, drapes and mini blinds. They are all fair game, too. And they just love computers, especially the mouse, the keyboard and visible wires. Some people baby proof their homes, and some of us either bird proof or live with the consequences and dont worry about what visitors think about us and our decor.
