Miligold Macaw

Hi everyone... Can anybody offer me any good information / advice on Miligolds? I will be rehoming a 20 month old this weekend. I am interested in knowing anything about their personalities, common problems health or behavioral, any information will greatly be appreciated. I do have other Macaws, just no Hybrids. I have heard good and bad about Hybrids... just looking for some feedback from those of you who may have a Miligold. Thanks-Kelly

I'm not a fan of hybrids but I do admire their colors.........yes,he is a looker. Why is he being re-homed at such a young age?

His dad got a promotion at work which is going to require him to be gone quite a bit more. His mom is a wee bit intimidated by him. Shes a little bird person. Hes a doll. Very sweet more of a chicken than a hawk. Im very confident well be just fine. I cant wait to bring him home Saturday!

Thankyou... I checked out your Benjamin on your webshots... hes georgeous. Every Greenwing I have ever met has had such a quirky personality and very sweet disposition... they are really cool.

Thanks,Ben is a work in progress for me. I am his fourth home in eight years and he is still adjusting. He has a large vocabulary, loves to sing, and loves all kinds of food.

Thats awesome, I love rehoming parrots. I love changing their minds and showing them things they didnt get to see possibly in the home(s) they had before coming to live with me. Ive had birds that didnt know what it was like to be touched, fed fresh foods... simple stuff like orange juice or bananas. I have had a couple of REAL monsters. Months later people thought I was lying about it being the same bird. You know you have succeeded when that animal takes a bath in your home for the first time because you know he is happy and he feels safe. Sounds weird but I have video recorded every bird I have ever had during his/her first bath. I usually cry because I know what it takes for them to take a bath. Well Im sure Bens story will have a happy ending. Take Care and wish me luck... I will keep you posted!

I'm sure you will do OK,your mind and heart seem to be focused on what is ahead of you. For some people re-homes are a free parrot and for others it's a labor of love.
