Not a good night last night....

Well, this morning I wake up and am so sore it's not even funny. One little brother has seat belt burn across his face, and one has them on his chest. My little sister got 4 stitches, and my mom hurt her neck some. But luckily, nobody got hurt badly. Now to the story.

Yesterday at 1 PM, we left to go see our grandma. She lives about 4 and a half hours from us. We had planned to eat dinner with her, but she had made an appoinment for the time right after we got there. (She owns an H&R Block) So, since she had that appointment, she couldn't leave to go eat. So at around 6 PM, we left. We went to Tulsa to meet my dad (that's where he works) and went out to eat there. Mom drove after leaving the restaurant, as Tulsa is so big that I can't stand to drive in it. At Sallisaw, OK, I started driving. We were about 2 and a half hours from home. So, off we go. I had slept all morning, basically til we left, so I had a lot of energy left in me. Had the radio up and was singing my heart out, as it was very boring with just myself awake. About 30 minutes away from our town, there is a very rough, awful road. This road has nice big gravel spots. Usually these spots won't be a problem, but last night, they almost killed us. I was driving happily along, still perfectly OK. No one else was on the road, and it was just so peaceful...then BAM! a deer jumps out in front of me. My instinct told me to swerve, and I did. But, when going at 60 MPH, swerving on a bumpy road filled with gravel is not a good thing. I swerved right, and went in to the ditch. I was not able to stop, as it just rained, and the ground was slippery and muddy. We traveled through the ditch, which would have been fine, and I could have driven the car out. BUT, as we were going through this ditch, there was a driveway that was up at an angle to the ditch....Much like a ramp. And we hit it, and we flew, and we rolled. We landed upside down, and the first thing Mom did was roll call. Everyone was there, most were crying. Luckily, that little seat belt rule I have (wear it or get out) saved us. I can't imagine what it would have been like if they weren't wearing one. The car is maybe worth 200 bucks now, definitely not worth fixing. Insurance......liability. Yes, it does suck. Luckily I have most of the insurance money from the last wreck (got 1500 for where the woman hit me). I should be able to hopefully get a nice replacement car for low cost. For a neon, it stood up incredibly well. I always bash the neon and how crushable it is, but I would have been able to get in it, and drive it the rest of the way. Unfortunately, after the tow company tipped it over, It was not drivable. Things got crushed on the way of it being tipped. I asked the towers to take it to a friend's car shop, and I got a call this morning from him, and he was freaking out. Big time. I still have to go clean the car out, so I will take pictures while we're there.

I am just so thankful that nobody was hurt. The seatbelts, I guarantee you, saved a life last night. I'm not sure what I'm going to do with all this. It's still a haze.

Just thought that people here might like to know what's going on.

Kevin

Good lord Kevin, it sure is exciting growing up being you huh? I too am very thankful that you and your family did not meet with worse and this comes from a veteran car roller (learned to drive using with the Bumper car method) a long time ago, so I know how very scary that is.
Just take care of yourself and try to relax, as hard as that may seem at times and don't let your nerves get frazzled.
The world would be worse off without you in it, so please take care of yourself.

Well that's no way to spend your evening, is it? I love your Mom -- roll call. Sometimes cries are a good thing. Anyway, I's SO glad everyone is okay. Cars can be replaced -- people can't.

It was very crazy. It's the first time I've ever heard my Mom yell out a curse word. Good thing is that everyone is OK. Now just gotta find a replacement car :-/
