How do insert a picture?

Hi everyone. I have an iMac. I have iPhoto for my digital pictures. Can anyone give me any advice on how to post a picture on a posting and in my signature line? I keep getting the message (for posting) that the file is too large. I was able to get something in the signature but it comes up and address that when double-clicked shows a little tiny picture on a blank sheet. I'm not a complete computer zero but this one has me stumped.

Well there are a couple of options. The easiest one I'm going to explain to you now. Upload your pictures to the pictures section of this board or to another web site (say myspace.com or photobucket.com).

Then get the photo URL by right clicking on the photo you've uploaded and copying it's URL properties (IE: http://www.photobucket.com/images/myphoto.jpg)

Now go to the user control panel (userCP) and edit your signature. Add your photo like this

[img]http://www.photobucket.com/images/myphoto.jpg[/ img]

the "img" tags are interpreted by the software on this board as HTML photo tags and will render the url within those tags as a photo.

That's it! Be careful how many images you include in your signature as the there's a character length restriction on signatures. For example... My signature which includes my Hand "PowerBBS" and the names and birds in my "Flock" as well as three pictures just about maxes the character restriction. A smarter way for me to have done it was to create a single Long picture comprised of all three. That would allow me to post more. But I think I've posted enough. "Goddy" signatures just are uncool me thinks.

Thank you. I'm going to print that out and see if I can make it work. I might be very close to making it work already. You explained that very simply and very well which is about all I am capable of dealing with.

I downloaded several pictures to the Photos tab on this site but they are laying on their side (for lack of better wording). I can't find any device to rotate them or remove them. Any additional advice. I think I may have a picture in my signature. If that is not the case then I haven't even gotten that right!

If you register to photobucket you can use their site to upload your pics and edit them before posting them on here.

I agree! Image hosting, free photo sharing & video sharing at Photobucket is the way to go. You can upload pics and video. And it's free! Woo Hoo

Hey Everyone. I went into photobucket. It took a few tries but it looks like at least I got a picture of Dave in my signature page. He's a handsome little guy isn't he? Thanks for all the help and advice. I'm glad Dave's picture is out there for all to see.
