Lunchtime, after school & Saturday morning memories... in no particular order:
Reruns of the B&W George Reeves Superman series The Classic campy BATMAN The Hilarious House Of Frightenstein starring the talents of Billy Van and Vincent Price. The Friendly Giant with the puppets Jerome the Giraffe, Rusty the Rooster, and lets not forget Angie and Fiddle cats. Mr. Dressup Captain Kangaroo Mr. Roger's Neighborhood Marty & Sid Kroft's H.R. Pufnstuf & The Banansplits there were the Stopmotion shows Gumby & Pokey David & Goliath Heading into cartoonland... The original Hanna Barbara cartoons Johny Quest SpaceGhost, the Herculoids Birdman and the Galaxy Trio, Yogi Bear, Huckleberry Hound Quickdraw McGraw Snagglepuss Augie Doggie and Doggie Daddy Woody Woodpecker Topcat Magilla Gorilla Wally Gator Jabber Jaws Grape Ape The Flinstones and their futuristic counterparts, the Jetsons Scooby Doo, Where are you? Dynomutt Atom Ant Josie And The Puss-y-cats Captain Caveman The Harlem Globetrotters FatAlbert Speed Buggy Tom & Jerry How about one of the first japanese TV Roboheros to come North America Ultraman.. Non cartoons: Adam 12 Gentle Ben The Monkees The Man From U.N.C.L.E. ISpy Mission Impossible Dragnet My Favourite Martian reruns for toys.... Rockem Sockem Robots Monopoly Battleship Twister Hotwheels, Matchbox cars and Sizzlers! motorized cars Balsawood model planes with "doped" & painted tissue paper body panels. I saw a Slinky, but does anybody remember the Spudgun? How about a Hypnocoin? or how about an ALL METAL body pedal car called a "The Kid-illac" For Christmas back in 1969, I got 2 very unusual robot toys. They must have been fresh off the boat from Japan as 95% of the writing both on the box and in the instructions were in Japanese. (LOL! They looked like they could have been Ultraman's buddies.) They were SO cool though...twistable neck & waist, as well as articulation joints at shoulders and elbows. They had rubber tank treads & battery powered motors in their feet. Unfortunately, there was no way to control where they went other than forward or back. They had 4 different weapon systems with each bot & at least one weapon could also shoot these little red plastic rockets about 4-6 feet, (they were about the size of a TicTac mint). Of course today we know that would be a big time chokin hazzard for small kids, but in '69, they were the hottest toy you could get for Xmas As for Technology: I'm looking at "One of the most scientifically advanced Calculators ever built" in the mid-to-late seventies- the Texas Intruments SR-51A. Or a little bit more computerish: how about a pair of Timex-Sinclair 1000 "computers" and the optional, but tiny thermal printer ... Or a fully working Apple IIPlus with monitor and dual 5/14 Floppy drives and a DOT matrix printer..
