Angry Some people make me sick!!

I was watching the local news tonight and there was a story that made me cry. Police found 19 horses dead on a farm in MN. They had all starved to death and were in various states of decay, some were just skeletons. There were 9 live horses in the same pasture that were sooooo skinny and their hooves were HORRIBLE and were so long they were growing upwards and curling. The only way that the police even found out about the farm is that a few of the 9 horses actually got out of the pasture (thank God). They said that the man admitted he can't take care of them and signed them over to the Humane Society (gee, what a nice guy). I just don't understand some people. How the H*LL can you sit there and watch 19 HORSES STARVE TO DEATH and on top of that LEAVE THEIR BODIES!!!! I would starve myself before I EVER let any of my animals starve and if it got to that point I would rather they be happy with someone else then dying with me, no matter how much I love them. Good grief, I cried when my fish died a couple weeks ago. I understand that people have problems but it is really hard to have any sympathy for this person. It doesn't even sound like he was a hoarder, I think he just didn't care.

Many people in the world don't place much value on the lives of other animals. It's often a quality or attitude that has to be taught or nutured in childhood. I try not to kill anything big or small...but have noticed little kids when they come here to visit stamping on ants, spiders etc and when I ask them not to, they look quite bewildered.
Some people like these horse owners probably don't recognise the immensity of their actions on these poor animals. Maybe they just see the horses as their belongings??? I don't know what makes people tick - the older I get the more I like animals!!! That's what brings me back to reading Birdboard posts cause it has lots of people that DO care about animals and birds. Restores a bit of faith in humans.

WOW that is so sad. I hate hearing people say, "But I love them..." well in that case, adopt them out.

OMG I have horses and I hate hearing these type of horror stories. We have gone thru some very hard times to the point I didn't get to eat for almost a week just so my kids and animals have food to eat, thank god those times are over and we are doing good right now but if I ever knew that things would never turn around for the better I would adopt them out in a heart beat just so they would never turn out like that. I hate people like that. This is why I could never work for Animal Control, I would go berlistic on every animal abuse or neglete case I would get asigned too.

That's how I feel. I have had horses in the past and have worked at a few horse barns and I just don't get it. I had to sell my horse because she had medical issues that I couldn't afford to take care of. I still miss her even though it's been over 10 years now but I know she went to a great home and was very well taken care of. I feel bad for people who hoard animals because they really do think that the animals are better off with them even when it's obvious to other's that they aren't. It's the people like this who just DON'T CARE that make me angry!
