Jannabell(cockatiel) and I would both jump when a neighbor was setting off what I guess were M80s in preperation for the 4th, a few days early. It was REALLY loud. But then we would both calm down and I would tell her it's okay and all. She was similarly startled when we had a particualrly violent thunderstorm. However, her main reaction to a thunderstorms is to hunker down and go to sleep. Last night, with the main town fireworks a little in the distance, she did run up my arms a few times and look at me as if to ask if it was dangerous. I told her about fireworks and how we were fine, and she seemed fine with it, overall. Usually when she's startled by crows outside, or the neighbors noises, if I tell her I hear it too and it's ok, it won't hurt us, she is usually good. The one exception to that was my neighbor has a toy fake bird that has some kind of 'song' that completely terrified her, I wonder what it was 'saying'?. But I have to say, she's not bothered much by noise, like vacuums, or my more expressive friends. She is however sensitive to movements or shadows she dosen't immediately understand, that will startle her.

My Grandparents had a dog that they had to tranquelize when there were any firework noises about o.O

Actually, a couple days ago there was a thunderstorm close enough to my house to make the dishes rattle, and my tiel was playing on the stairs when the first thunder crashed and her reaction was something like this:
*BOOM epic thunder*
*stop moving*
*crest goes up*
*nevermind. carry on with my fascinating birdie life xD*

It could be my anti big noise training, e.g: make her ride around on the vacuum baha xD
I'm so cruel =/

My old cattle dog hates anything loud like thunder and will bash on the door to be let in. The 2 pups don't really mind, and Flea is cool with any noise. The birds are used to noise cause we have a 7 year old in the house! hehe

I've not had anyone of my pets display a fear of loud noises or firewoks, not ever.
