We are well!

I know it's been a minute since I have posted pics of the feather dusters, but all is fine. Scarley is acting out toward me like a typical child due to my long work days and today being day #9 w/o a day off and I still have Wed, Thur, Fri, Sat, Sun, Mon, Tue to go before I do finally get a day off. But I am working two jobs and I need to save my $$ for my up coming trip to NH to see Mabird & Fids & family ! ! !

But all is well here other than being tired...though it is only 8:08PM here in GA, I will be in bed before long because I have to be up at 4:30 in the morning for another long 12 hour day!

I never did get a chance to tell you all about Lucky. Lucky was a kitten found at work by one of the maintence workers in one of the college buildings' basement. Lucky was black, in poor shape, very dehydrated, very puney, had a reallllly bad sore on it's head that was healing. Couldn't have been more than 5 weeks old.

Well Physical Plant posted "free to good home" and a lady I talk to all the time from that dept called me and I went to see the baby and brought Lucky home. They got lucky to drink water and eat some canned food. Well Lucky sat in my lap or shoulder for rest of that afternoon napping, purring and drinking small amounts of gatorade thru a straw. I get lucky home and my roommate is somewhat of a bitch about it but she got over it. Scarlet, my Dachshund falls in love with this baby and becomes mother hen to Lucky and Lucky loves Scarlet in return.

After a doggie bath from Scarlet, I go to dry Lucky off and it was bloody from the fleas. Well I take lucky to bathroom and give a quick bath with mild soap and it was like he was loving it..I wrapped him up in a thick towel and blow dry him too.

I mixed some kitten formula for him and used a syringe to give him some cos he was too tired and weak to lap it from a dish. And then gave him some water. After two very strong pooops, we tucked him away in the garden tub lined with news paper, a litter box, a dish of water, a comfy bed. Every time lucky cried Scarlet had to go see about her baby.

I woke up to let Scarlet out and to potty myself I heard a faint whimper from the baby,,,who had pooped again, and something told me right then he wouldn't live much longer. I cleaned him up, got a clean towel, wrapped him in it and tucked him in bed with me. I held him close to me and kissed his little head when he took his last breath and last whimper. It broke my little heart....at least God let him know love before he died. It broke the hearts of many people at the school the next day.

Ok, I'm crying now...

But here are a couple of pictures of Lucky. RIP Lucky! For the few hours I had you, I loved you very much!

Oh no, poor little kitty, at least he had you, even if it was for a short time, I'm sure it meant something.

Sometimes, all we can be is that last good, loving memory for one of God's creatures. Because everyone, no matter the species, deserves to die knowing love.

Thank you for being that for Lucky.

What a beautiful thing you did for that kitten. It couldn't have been easy for you but like others have said, little Lucky got to experience love and kindness.

Your story makes me love that little Scarlet even more. Why do you tease me with stories about that little dog...and pictures too?

Thanks for all the kind words...Yes Lucky was loved, not only by me but by his Adoptive K9 mother, Scarlet.

Oh Tom, we're not teasing you. You just think we are. LOL

Well you, and Scarlet of course, were certainly good friends to little Lucky - cause sometimes the very best we can do for our animal friends is show them some loving kindness at the end of their life.
