WOW! We gave up processed cereals long ago. I am glad we did now. I knew it was nothing but sugar and bad stuff anyway, at least what my kids would pick out and eat. That is why we stopped buying it.

If we all worried about how foods we eat are made, handled, and so on. Well we all would start back growing our own foods. What about these restraunts we go to. Ever thought about hmmm did they drop it, cough on it, sneeze on it. We all would be paranoid all the time if we wondered the big "WHAT IF". Personally I don't want to know how most things are made cause well I like them. Lord have mercy think about what you breathe everyday. I work in a welding shop an well I can't worry to much if I did I wouldn't have a job. LOL But Listen I just an ol country boy so what Do I know..

I was a chef all my life, the things I could tell you about what they do in restaurants would curl your hair!!! Suffice it to say, chefs don't advise eating in restaurants!! Well, personally I DO want to know. It's my health, and I care about it. But, we all have our own opinions. :)

I used to work in several restaurants, and I must say that these are restaurants that I would definitely eat at myself. As far as other restaurants, I usually try to ask someone who works there how clean and proper the kitchen is run. What's even nicer are the restaurants with open kitchens so you can actually see what happens to your food (as they're cooking anyway).

As far as this article, I know that this sounds cruel and inhumane, but we all have to die of something, right? If I had the time, means, and land, I would absolutely grow my own food, raise my own cattle and chickens, etc. However, I cannot do this. So I must rely on what the food industries put out in order to sustain life.

As far as all those foods causing damage to our health, this caught my attention. I remembered when they said not to eat eggs, then they said to eat eggs. I also thought back to my grandparents and my parents. They have been eating these processed foods for years (lots of burgers, devil dogs, real butter, and even plain old salted pork fat) and they are just fine. The key is to eat in moderation. Anyone who eats just one food every day all day will die, whether or not it's organic, processed, or whatnot. Again, it's MODERATION that matters, and any nutritionist and/or fitness guru will tell you that as well.

Now, as far as these studies that are quoted in that article. Being a psychology student, I'm trained to be skeptical until I see the actual study. How reliable and significant were the results? Were the controls actually controls? How well were variables manipulated? Plus, you have to keep in mind that these people might have something to gain from "finding" these results, and therefore might have fudged the data, or made it up altogether. If you can get me the actual studies or a link to them, I'd be happy to read them and judge them according to their actual data and methods. But until then, I'm going to be skeptical.

I do want to thank you for sharing this article though, it's very nice of you to think of the wellbeing of your friends here on the Bird Board!! :icon_smil
