more pics of my pond It is 4 foot deep at the deepest spot which is actually under the deck. The deck extends 2 foot over the pond which provides cover and shade.

I've built a few backyard ponds in the past, even took 3rd place at a landscape expo. Once the initial labor is done a pond is probably the most fun and relaxing landscape project, and one of the most rewarding.

I love those. So relaxing. I had one long ago and I sure miss it. That may be another good project for hubby to do one of these days.

What a lot of work you guys did. It's wonderful! You will enjoy that for years to come. The sound of running water is so peaceful. I'm sure it will bring some wildlife to your yard as well, the birds are going to love it.

We keep talking about one, but don't have it yet. Kelly, you're further along than I am by having them on the trampline! Nice job Lisa

Oh!! We're planning one in the VERY near future, as soon as our fence is built and we get some dirt back there. Hubby wants it by the dining room window because we have a great shot of the sun setting beyond the trees and river at dinner time, and he thinks a koi pond would complete it all! (Hehe, I agree)! And Scarlett's future aviary will go right to the side of it because she loves water and fish!

It's beautiful Lisa!! Great job! Did you have a set of plans, or is that all from your heads?

Just wanted to share my pond with all of you who were saying that you'd get around to a pond "some day". That's what I kept saying...and saying, and saying. So one day I went out and bought a 200 gallon Rubbermaid horse watering trough and filled it with water. Plopped a few plants and a fountain in, and voila--instant pond! And I could do it myself in one afternoon. I still want a "real" pond someday, but in the meantime I can enjoy the sound of water on my deck, and the sound of the frogs it attracts. Not to mention the gorgeous blooms on the water lilies and water hyacinth. As you can see form the pics, the water plants absolutely adore it. I really need to thin out the hyacinths, but haven't been able to bring myself to throw them out. I started out with 4 little piecs floating around, and they've spread to cover the entire surface! The poor lilies have to poke their leaves above the surface just to get the sun. Anyway... it's inexpensive, easy, and a great way to enjoy a water feautre until you can afford the time and money for a "real" pond.
