WOW. I'm pretty sure they'd have trained him to do that, but even then, that is absolutely incredible.

Its a fake. they took real footage of an elephant painting, and they made a fake trunk end, and the picture that the elephant drew is fake.
Sorry to burst your bubble.
Although elephants can paint, they do not have the dexterity to draw like that.

Well, my bubble is still intact.
I'm familiar with video SFX and honestly the debunking I've seen about the production of that clip was very unconvincing.

I will say those elephants are trained to a certain extent. Simply by the fact that they do this trick often and the more often they use the tools, the better they become.

An elephant's trunk is a lot more dexterous than most people think. I've seen an adult pick petals off one flower on a tree branch, but leave ones beside it untouched. I've also seen a couple of young elephants playing with some sticks and rocks. The 2 of them were almost taking turns dropping, throwing and draggin them through a puddle. They made some surprisingly intricate patterns in the mud and that was with absolutely no human coaching.

Elephants are awesome animals, and being an artist, that video definitely stuck a chord with me. :o)

Each elephant is "taught" a different design by the looks of it. The other one did all flowers. I believe!!!!! Wow... Thank You.
