Olympics- Show Your Inability To Care

i hate the olympics.

i don't see why i should care about these random sports that i don't pay any attention to any other time.

the olympics are stupid.

Good thing you live in a world where there are hundreds of TV channels --life is full of wonderful choices (more quality time with the fids?)!

LOL....youre not alone. Interest in sports in general is one of those things in life that I just don't understand.

Is there something wrong with me because I'm not in a bar yelling at the TV screen like some psycho whenever there's a game going on? Or, because I don't waste 4 hours of my life watching a baseball game. Or, is there something wrong with me for failing to see what any of it has to do with my life or happiness? One thing that's great about the superbowl though is that (and you'd appreciate this if you lived in NY) the streets are empty. I can go out to any restaurant with my wife, or movie thearter, etc. and we have the place to ourselves. A nice quiet time....lol.

My wife's parent's are staying with us for the week (from Europe) and they're so into the Olympics. You couldn't explain it to me no matter how hard you tried. I just keep asking myself.......why?

I don't hate the Olympics but I just can't bring myself to see why I should care.

Because those people work so hard to achieve what they have and they are representing your country and it's amazing to watch?
It's like a tradition in my house, we all get around the tv and yell at the judges who give stupid scores to the Americans and cheer on Michael Phelps (who is just gorgeous to watch!!) I've been doing it since I can remember.

The things they are capable of doing- SO few people are. And it's amazing to watch.
I am not a sports freak, but I loooove the Olympics because they are MORE than just "sports"... And the stuff you DO see, you really can't see everyday. They normally don't broadcast that sort of stuff. So it's interesting to watch

Gymnastics are my favorite because I can't imagine how much work it takes to make your body do those things and make it look so easy. It seems impossible!

And believe me, no one is asking you to care. I'm sure the Olympics will go on without your support...

My hubby and I enjoy watching the Olympic together. I just wish Mark Spitz was there. I love seeing the people I grew up watching.

having done gymnastics for 6yrs of my life, and being a foil and saber fencer (not competitive anymore) for the past 5yrs of my life, i enjoy watching the olympics - especially these disciplines.

hey, the US women's saber team took 1, 2, and 3 a friend of mine trained with one of the girls, and another one started her fencing career at a club that i sometimes fence at...

i guess it depends if there are connections to spark the interest

Me too!! I hate sports mostly because my father would drink and watch any and all sports every weekend.

Thank goodness my Hubby is not a sports fan. Now I can deal with a Nascar race once in a while but thats it.

So glad others feel the same way..

Lol, I'm not a big fan either, but wouldn't go so far as to say I hate the olympics altogether. I'm sure if I had family members or friends competing I would be on the edge of my seat.

What I can't understand is there are a couple of people at the office that have actually lost sleep due to staying up all night watching ... uh, record it!

"The things they are capable of doing- SO few people are"

Because too many people are busy sitting on the couch growing a gut and watching others live their lives. Many people who compete in the olympics are everyday people with normal jobs who sacrifice all of their spare time to accomplish something (a UPS worker who competes in Tae Kwon Do for instance). I say good for them but we all have our own lives. I'm not a spectator...i'm just not programmed that way. Good for the people who go for the gold. I wish everyone luck. I'll be in my backyard admiring my garden, having a BBQ with friends, or simply appreciating everything I have. Not imo wasting time paying attention to what amounts to over-hyped games.

I know nobody's asking anyone to care but people sure love to assume you do. (For anyone) how many times do people you don't know ask you about some "game" or competition? Why do I have to automatically be a couch potato just because most people are? I mean, if I don't need to care do me the courtesy of assuming I have a life. Yes it's another rant...lol.
