When I was younger and considerably thinner, Will and I would go tubing down the Potomac River in Berkley Springs area. On one summer day, we came upon a whole lot of monarchs sitting on the rocks. I assume it was some kind of mating thing, but I have no real idea for insect studies are not my area of expertise. What was really cool was that they started to land all over my tube and indeed, on me! It was really enchanting and I'll never forget it. By the way, we sometimes have milkweed that springs up in my lilly garden. I no longer pull it out, for it attract butterflies. Who knew?
