Thanks guys!
And for thoes of you who have kids and birds, you are letting your kids learn a wonerful lesson in life! They will grow up and have a soft spot in thier hearts for these amazing creatures. They will have to carry on our legacy....and ensure the proper care for the parrots when we are gone....

Luke...it is far north of you ...bergen county ...next to NYC.
Just a dot on the map...but a very old town....

Lisa, your story really touched me (I had to fight back tears!). I was one of those misunderstood, lonely, scared children, and without animals, I don't know I would have gotten by. I only recently got into the world of birds (it'll make 1 year at the end of April), but before that I was always surrounded by cats. I didn't have many (human) friends, and my cats were the only ones that I could come home to and lay down and tell them about my troubles, get angry, and cry without being judged or recieving harsh criticism. My animals were my saving grace. Especially my cat, Fozzie, who God bless her soul, is 13 years old and still going strong.

Your story reawoke feelings that I had put away a long time ago. Animals are so powerful and many people (even me sometimes) take that for granted and only realize it once their beloved animal has passed on. I don't at all look forward to the day when my Fozzie dies, or when my two budgies die. I've had scares where I thought that I was going to lose my birdies, and it tore me apart inside to think about having to lose them and all that they are to me. They all mean so much to me, much more than words can say. They're my friends, my family, my life.

Thank you so much for sharing Lisa.
