Well I don't know about anyone else but if someone posts a bit of good news or just some everyday news I do read through it but unless it asks a question or like you mentioned says something I totally disagree with, I think that's nice and go on to the next one. It's not that I don't like the nice newsy or "good" posts but am not always sure what to say about them. And if others have already posted the same thing I am feeling I usually don't write a post just to say "ditto" If all here would like everyone to post to there emails even if it is to say "that's nice bye" then I'm sure we could all start doing that. Now if someone says something totally uncalled for (like the cooties ) then I do say something about it unless it has already been said.

Stephanie

Mike, when I see you post I usually always read it. Most of the time I post something small back just to say "hey, I was here and I read what you wrote". I even notice when your not posting :icon_wink But unfortunately I understand what your saying, negativity gets the noticability. That's why Jerry Springer is so rich.

I suppose you must be directing this toward the long-time standing members of this board, but I will respond anyhoo since you DID ask and perhaps this coming from someone new may be a slightly different perspective.

As a true and verfiable newbie both to bird-ownership and this board I feel it would be presumptuous of me to add a "aww gee whiz, that's neat!" to a post that is made in a familiar manner amongst friends. I am neither friend nor familiar with the poster. I personally head directly to those posts where the subject line is one of information, educational or problematic to gain insight on either an issue I'm having or simple awareness of birds and their quirks. If I notice a very hot topic, which may or may not be of inflammatory nature, I will look out of curiousity to see what's got everyone's undies in a bunch. Birthday posts may have many responses but I don't read or respond, see the reasons above. (I don't join in singing for strangers at restaurants either)
If there is a post that I have a question about, or would like clarification on...I most certainly will ask. Although, when it comes to the incendiary topics, I tend to keep my mouth shut for many reasons. Primarily, I don't feel I have enough education or experience to debate many of the topics nor will I join in what I see as mob-rule in general condemnation. I like to stay a bit more objective than that....as well as having an aversion to the lemming syndrome.

As to why I peeked into this particular post, despite the title? Because you authored it. I have searched the archives for your posts and read them all because I find your writing to be inspired, creative and insightful. So there.

Kerra

Good one LisaB. i am poking you Grae, with a very long stick all the way from Australia. LOL. I do agree though. i sometimes try to post to the ones who seem to get forgotten - with some helpful advice I hope.!!! Lately I am having trouble just posting to anything. I don't know if it is this site or our PC or both or just me being impatient.

I Know How You feel Mike!

I also have felt the way You do Mike, but even a bit more to the personal side(That is untill Dear Jethica booted me in my (also shiney heiny)! BUT--Now I do have a Doctors note to the effect that I'm NOT suppossed to Use My right Hand/Arm for anything--and I'm right handed!SOOOOO Even though I do read Almost all Post's I generally only respond to the ones that I feel I can either help or just give a bit more info to! Hopefully my darn arm will stop giving me such fits so I can be a better particpant on the Boards! Bonnie

Kerra...dont be shy..jump right in on thoes friendly post.....we all at one time were new....and only got to know eachother (and love eachother) because we jumped in on posts!!!!
Even though you might consider yourself a newbe...dont sell yourself short....Even the long time parrot owners can always stand to learn a thing or two....no one knows everything...we all learn from eachother....Thats what makes this board so wonderful
!!!!

ps..one day we will have you singing in the resturant...**LOL**

remember to sing like no one is listening...
..............to dance like no one is watching....
..............and love like you've never been hurt.........

and if someone hears you, see's you, or hurts you...blame it on the prozac**LOL**

Oh Graeh......that is so not true! I enjoy all your posts too and by the time I wake up and get around to commenting, most of y'all have fallen asleep!

Cliff, I have a Jerry Springer post just from a couple days ago that is already on the 2nd page of **********....so not even nekkid, red-necked cockatiels on Jerry can draw a crowd these days! :icon_cry:
