Alright all... Vegas/Bryce/Zion what to do and what to see? Any ideas?

It's roadtrip time. Hubby and I are going on a little vacation starting next week for a few days to celebrate our one year wedding anniversary (married 4/4/4). Since the Grand Canyon North Rim isn't open yet, We're going to have a little more time in the area of Vegas/Bryce/Zion than I originally thought. What else is there to do over there?

Vegas doesn't thrill us that much.... we might see a show or few. Tropicana, I hear, has a wonderful parrot show a couple times a day...

We are going to the Hoover Dam, that's on the list

Petrified Forest/Arches/Bridges National parks are a bit too far out. Arches especially would add 500 miles to our trip, with not much in between.

So....I have books and maps... I need suggestions to look up please! Thanks!

(no the birdies are not coming, and they will be VERY spoiled and well cared for while we are gone)

I can't help with anything in that area, as I haven't gone to those places. However, I can wish you and hubby and very Happy 1st Wedding Anniversary!

And many more...... :eusa_clap

That is one of the nicest things I have heard in awhile. It is so good to hear that people are still happy together. My hubby and I will have our 10th anniversary in May.

Enjoy your vacation wherever you decide to go!

Happy Anniversary, Dana!

Two shows in Vegas worth seeing......

While you guys are in Vegas, you might want to take in the Zumanity show at New York New York. www.zumanity.com It is very much on the risque side but is incredible.... you won't be disappointed! Rita Rudner also performs at NY NY and she's beyond funny..... but of the two, I highly recommend Zumanity. I've seen it the last two times I was in Vegas.

Talking I'mmmmmm Baaaaaaaackkkkkkkk

Hi all, Just got through reading and responding to some of the posts I missed. Actually got back Tuesday night, late...

We had an AWESOME time.

Thanks for the recommendations Djs .... we just didn't make it to ANY shows. The only show I really wanted to see of course was the bird show at Tropicana.... and guess what??????? They CANCELED IT THE DAY BEFORE we got there. The employees had received the memo that morning. How sucky is that? They've been doing a birdshow for HOW many years? Just for it to be shutdown the day before I get there!!! :eusa_wall Oh well.

We went to Vegas, then the next day to Zion NP, then To Bryce NP, Then Capitol Reef NP, then Back to Vegas, the Hoover Dam, and Home. ~1600 mile, relaxing road trip. :-} Everything was GEORGOUS!

Having lived in Southern California since I was 8 (16 years), It didn't even occure to me that we might hit some snow. (Hubby either, he's a native). Well, we drove through Hubby's first snow storm, a nice soft, small, blizzard! That was after visiting the snow laden Bryce canyon. Sooooo pretty. I had never been there when there was snow. Zion only had snow at the top peaks, were we couldn't go. Anyway, it was a real treat!! Slow going on the snow covered trails in sneakers, but at least we brought some nice jackets ;-}

The only bad incident was on the drive from Bryce to Capitol Reef. I hit a jackrabbit. I tried not to, and I feel so bad. Think I killed it instantly. I couldn't swerve much, there was a cliff on either side of me. I cried, and I've had nightmares about it since :icon_frow

Other than that horrid incident, we stayed in nice places and got good deals :-} Everything was so increadibly beautiful, but I have to admit, I'm kind of sick of looking at rocks! :aiwebs_01

Thank you everyone for the well wishes!

(btw - the birds are MAD MAD MAD that I was gone for so long ( less than a week!). They were well cared for, but they are still giving me the cold shoulder for a few minutes each time I come home (or downstairs) since we got back. They never stopped eating or drinking and I got updates on them almost daily, but they sure were sulking while I was gone!

Oh, and another good part of the anniversary?? We had wedding cake last night :-} I know it wasn't exactly ON our anniversary, but hey, we were out of town, and then I had to defrost it. It is STILL an amazing cake! (lemon chiffon mmmmmmmm) (we had lemon, marble and whitechocolate/raspberry @ the wedding, but the top tier was lemon) I can't believe it survived me accidently defrosting the freezer two weeks ago!

I'm so glad you had such a wonderful time. The birdies will stop giving you the cold shoulder soon. They just have to prove their point for awhile. I have had that happen before.

Sounds like the wedding cake was still good!!!!!!

Glad your home and had a good time .

Regina
