How far would you travel for a BB gathering?

OK, I'm here to ask opinions of US members only. Tiki can handle the Aussies if she wishes, and others can do the same for their areas. I am basically trying to find out how far members are willing to travel for a get-together. If people aren't willing to travel very far, then the US gatherings will have to be split up (assuming anyone actually wants to do this). If everyone (or several) are willing to travel to the central US, then we can have one BIG HUGE gathering instead of several small ones. My favorite people are on both the east coast, west coast, and central US, so it would be nice if we could all meet in the center of the US. Not horribly far of a travel :icon_neut :icon_neut

The gathering that I am planning will be taking place over the summer. I assume that summertime is the most convenient for the most people. I know for a fact that summer (late May-Early August) is the only time I will be able to travel for this thing.

Kevin, actually you can add a 10,000 miles category on, because I will be in the USA for 2 weeks early Nov and will be meeting a few of my fave BB people! I would go to a gathering if it takes place then.

I forgot to mention...the gathering that I am planning will have to take place in summer (if I am to attend it). I assume that's the best time for everyone. But I know for a fact that I will not be able to get out of college in November to go to a website reuinion or sorts :icon_smil

new orleans would be good for central & southeastern US. Plus if you were coming from Cali, that would pretty much be everybody I can't live without seeing (I said pretty much...there is still Mike and all my other people). What about you Florida people? and Nancy....what would you say about travelling to New Orleans for a weekend?

I can't this summer for I'm trying to raise funds to take Miss Lily and my daughter to Disney World. She is 8 and this is the ideal time to take her. However, don't let me spoil the fun. I'm luckier than most because I've already met 6 members here. Just take lots of pictuers. Besides, I'm not draggin a pie all over Lousiana, honey.

well GRRRR!!!!!!!!! That's alright I guess. I'll probably end up making a special trip for you... And when you guys go to Disney World, WATCH FANTASMIC! It's the night show at MGM (if you go to the MGM park) and it is awesome. I'm sure she would love it.

Well I have already had the immense honor of meeting Lissa and her husband as well as Jennifer, who lives just a 1/2 hour/hour from me and Immunoboy and his wife from the African Grey Owners board.
And I will be meeting Ingrid and her husband as they came down to San Diego from Canada for a visit.
And if I am really really lucky I will also be meeting Dana (Birdyland) and her husband as well because they too live here in San Diego.
One of these days I will make it to the central states and I will for sure be going to Maryland one day to visit my mothers grave.
So far everyone I have met from the boards has enriched my life beyond measure.
Believe it or not, but bird owners have something magical about them, and I could tell with everyone that I have met.
Looking forward to meeting more of you all as we grow closer over the coming years.

I'm for an East coast (say...DC area...MIKE) gathering ...I know Don is planning something for us NJ/NY/PA people to go to the philly Zoo to meet....ANYONE WHO WANTS TO COME CAN!!!! the more the merrier.....
