I'm not fond of spiders and rodents. I do tend to jump and act a complete fool when faced with either but as far as real live technicolor phobias I think my only two are sharks and maggots.

I simply can not go into the ocean or a river thanks to my dads work on a certain trilogy of movies (he didn't work on the last one thankfully) that scared the pants off me as a small child all the way into my early teens. And apparently now somewhere deep in my subconscious I'm convinced a big badly built shark named Bruce is intent on ending my life. It's the thing of panic attacks and many embarassing moments in my childrens lives involving my screaming bloody murder for them to return to shore for no good reason at all during many a day at the beach. Poor things. One minute everything is nifty and the next I'm going totally crackers on shore waving them in because I have an "odd feeling". Old Roy running up and down on the shore calling all the bathers in the movie ain't got nothin' on this girl when she's having an anxiety attack and certain Bruce has found my children in a whole 3 inches of water. I do crazy real good.

Maggots are just gross and horrible nasty disgusting awful horrible icky nasty oogy ucky creatures that I can't tolerate the sight of. Blech. I turn into a raving lunatic during fruit fly season. If I ever have to face using maggots to clean out a wound or lose a foot I do believe I'd rather just cut the foot off myself. There's no way those things are touching me for any reason.

This isn't a phobia, just a couple things that piss me off.....

People who talk on cell phones while in line at the grocery store checkout

Drivers who lay on the horn the very second the traffic light turns green without giving a chance to get your foot off the brake and on the gas pedal....if you're in such a hurry, leave earlier!

On a similar note, I hate when I am out with someone, like having lunch for example and they are constantly on the cell phone. Also I hate when shop assistants are too busy chitchatting with each other and ignore the customers. Or if I am physically present in an office, travel agency or whatever and the person who is supposed to be helping me keeps taking phone calls and making me wait! Grrrrrrrrr!!!!!

At least we are lucky in Australia, drivers aren't as horny as they seem to be in the States! :icon_lol:

This has been a great thread!
I HATE snakes and spiders. I am also not fond of cockroaches but have found that hair spray stops them in their tracks!
I found out recently that I am afraid of heights - I was on a ladder in the living room helping hubby install recessed lighting - I was FROZEN on that ladder until he came in and rescued me - I simply could not move!
I am claustraphobic (sp?). I hate small spaces.
I hate when people smack their gum with their mouths wide open!
I hate when people eat with their mouths open.
Someone earlier mentioned going out to dinner and listening to other people's children cry and scream - that is one of my biggest pet peeves.
Rude drivers really tick me off. If they were in the grocery store with a grocery cart would they cut in front of you?
I don't trust people that don't like animals or birds.
Wow - I sound really witchy! :icon_eek:

I don't know that I have phobia's---

....I don't like being in the middle of a large body of water........like in a big lake or ocean.....or flying over one. Not crazy about having a built in pool in my backyard (don't know how to swim and a neighbor threw me into a pool as a kid).

.....don't mind bats, rescued one from a photography studio once.

......don't like raw meat/seafood of any kind. Fried oysters---I think the are to DIE for!! YUM

....Rats? Disgusting creatures....don't know what their purpose is.

.....snakes dont creep me out as much as rats do.

........spiders that are smallish, don't bother me too much, the big ones however do!
........cock roaches---yep they bother me a lot!!!!
