Atkins: Who's still dieting?

Around New Year's, a bunch of us decided to lose weight and get in shape. I have been doing Atkins and am at 73% of my goal, which has come a bit slower than I had hoped because my metabolism keeps stalling. I had hoped to hit it by May, now looking at June. I recently discovered a new health food store that has low carb products from the States like Pop-tarts, mac and cheese (OK that one tastes like cardboard), Ketogenics muffins (yummy) even low carb jelly beans and Oreos! Mikes life a little more pleasant anyway! So how is everyone else doing?

Oh, that Keto pasta is the absolute worst, ain't it? We now have a low carb pasta by Martha Gooch, and a low carb bread by Sara Lee that are both awesome. I still only have those maybe once a week tho. I've been maintaining the Atkins for Life for 3 years now, and tho I do tend to gain a few pounds during the winter, I'm still wearing size 4, and I am totally committed. People don't realize that Atkin's isn't all induction. I have carbs, but the biggest thing for me, was learning that whole foods are the good foods. And learning that the outer aisles are really the only place in the grocery store that you find those. The center aisles are chock full of hydrogenated oils, processed foods, added sugars, blah, blah, blah! So, after all this rambling, the answer is, Yes Miss Scarlett, I am still doing Atkins, and yes, I have 5 pounds to lose before I'm at my ideal weight again. AND, I gotta get back on the bike and abdominizer and elastic bands, other wise I'll just be a big old squishy gummy bear! heehee!

Atkins? Dieting? That goes against one of the guiding principles of my life. I'll sound like a pig, but I'd much rather eat bad food that tastes good than good food that tastes bad! Just so y'all know, I'm about 5'11" (when I stand up straight!) and probably around 215 lbs. Sure, I could opt to lose a bit around the middle, but I know I don't have the discipline and determination to stick to any type of food or exercise regimen.

Also, maybe balding, never being too popular with the guys or the ladies, and just being so laid back has something to do with it.

Anyway, right now I'm too busy trying to teach myself Old English. Now, doesn't that sound like more fun?

Good food, if made correctly, can taste just as great, if not better than bad food! It's called being a good cook! LOL

To say the least, I don't have the discipline or determination to stick to something as an exercise regimen, though since I was sick for two weeks last year, I have been loosing the weight that I had gained when I became a 'couch potato'. I'm at the weight I was when I moved here in 2002 (gained quite a bit in a short time....) or maybe 5 pounds heavier... I'm only 5' 3" and 120lbs (and though yes I am younger than most members on this board I wasn't happy with the weight I was the beginning of last year).

For everyone that is on a diet and has stuck to it (atleast for the most part!), I envy you, and you are doing a great job as well! I love food too much to go on something like a diet (even though I don't really need one!).

Tiki,
I am doing pretty well. This weekend I was awfully bad, however, will get back on track tomorrow. I have lost 4 dress sizes; almost another person!

I love the South Beach Diet. They have a cookbook with great food. The more you eat it the less I crave my fetucinni alfredo and macaroni and cheese. The first two weeks I was on it, last fall I lost 11 pounds in two weeks and doing a great job at maintaining the weight in which I want to be.

Tiki, then I shall keep you to that promise!!! :D

Josie, I can see that you have lost weight! You are looking great!!! Lovely photos!

In 2003, I put on 20-30lbs, though in the beginning of 2004, I became ill, and lost 10lbs. One day, I said I'd loose 5lbs, checked a few days later, and sure enough, I did! Lately, I've been eating quite a bit of popsicles, though just about out. Not really sure if eating the popsicles has helped me loose weight or not, though I did become sick and I wanted them incase I needed them to help me feel better and to keep liquids in my body. Well, I'm now around 118lbs, even though it's hard to say. I had lost 3lbs and somewhat jokingly said I'd be down at 115lbs soon, and then I lost another 2 or so lbs! I haven't excersized lately as it's been so cold and I'm no longer in PE. Weathers getting better and I'm hoping a friend can finish fixing up my 'new' bike!

Never dieted before my entire life...

I always had the opposite problem. =/ (And NO don't consider me lucky either!)

Ate too much and still lost weight.

I even got accused of being anorexic by my stupid doctor...

lol

Until I almost went into cardiac arrest at age 23 while in class and was rushed to the ER.

Turned out I had been suffering from severe hyperthyroidism for years!

So WATCH what you wish for!

I still weigh only in the double digits, but have so many health problems, and am on so much drugs to SLOW my metabolism.

My advice is don't look at the numbers, but rather just strive to be "healthy."
