We american's have been conditioned to beleive something is wrong with or should be hidden with breastfeeding. In other countries in the UK they actually breastfeed until 5 years old. Not saying I would do that but if you think about it. Are you a baby cow? But yet we give our babies baby cow milk. Always confused me....

I will say that I have 4 boys all were breastfed.I did this before it was the thing to do.My oldest is 23.My first three boys were 2 when I weaned them and I do now think it was too early. My last born who is now 7 was nursed till he self weaned at 3 and a half..Seriously I think 8 is just wierd but we as a nation shouldnt be so boobyphobic.
And I think kids are healthier and more secure when nursed longer then what we do in this country. My kids never had ear infections or many colds who's to say if it was the lack of cows milk but I think it was. |

Just a quick search on yahoo...
From February issue of Pediatrics magazine: "The study stresses that while six months was the duration of exclusive breastfeeding with the most significant decreases in risk of infection, it's by no means when a mother should stop breastfeeding. Long-term breastfeeding -- even up to 2 years of age and beyond -- will continue to reduce a child's chances of developing ear infections, pneumonia, or other respiratory infections." another: "It's not so unusual to be breastfeeding at 2 or 3 years old. Worldwide, the average age of weaning is somewhere around 3 to 4 years. Your child will stop breastfeeding when she 's ready. Described as "child-led" weaning, this is the most effective and gentle way to wean. As long as you're bothare enjoying breastfeeding, then by all means continue what you're doing." And yes I do think 8 is a bit much, but to each his own.

I personally think that the minute a child is old enough to begin to eat solid food on their own then they should be weaned. If you decide that you want to continue to breastfeed, then when your child is old enough to understand what a breast is and can talk, then they definitely need to be weaned. Period.
I believe that the woman is hindering her daughter's mental ability to grow up. While some of the more lewd comments posted on youtube will probably not occur, you can't tell me that her children do not suffer from immaturity. At eight years old that little girl is about to undergo puberty herself, and needs to be taught that her mother's body is just that- her mothers. The mother needs some psychological help herself in order to realize that by allowing this to happen she is enabling her children to remain in a toddler like mental state, while we all know that we cannot hinder children from growing up no matter what we do. I really believe that this is the woman's way of coping with the fact that her little girls won't be babies forever- she is trying to hang on to the last sentiment of having a baby. I mean, how in the world is that woman going to feel if and when the last daughter finally tells her no? "Are you sure? You don't want to do it one more time?" I shudder just thinking about it. |

i understand breastfeeding is good for your kids but come on people!!!!!! these kids have names for the boobs and are drawing the damn things! if you are dead set on breast milk then pump and give them a glass i just think them sucking it out is just wrong i think that is going to give them some sort of complex really come on
