Raw Spaghetti..Cracking this "myth"

OK, this topic has bugged me for the last ever of my life. Raw spaghetti... is it acceptable to feed, or use in toys(In moderation of course)? The "rumour(I'll call it)" says it is unaccpetable, because it will expand in your fids stomach. However, is this really true?

ALSO, if you can't feed raw pasta, spaghetti, etc... then what in the hay, are people talking about when they say they add pasta into their seed mixes?

Thanks a million,

I have never heard of it causing any of those problems. I haven't given it raw to my birds but they get cooked whole wheat macaroni often. They love it.

Pasta, like rice, does expand to a certain degree, though as to how much I'm not sure. Some people do enjoy giving their birds raw pasta as the birds love to play with it, and break it. Some people put pasta into wet food mixes, cook it in the oven, or put it in the fridge over night, and the pasta would have soaked up much of the moister. As to whether or not raw pasta is safe, I've heard that it is, but have never given my birds raw pasta before.

my grey in particular LOVES dry pasta and gets 3 sticks of angel hair every morning when he "gets up". They also have rotini in their seed mix - it is not a problem.

My birds have rotini in their seed mix they get as a treat. They love it and my pionus uses them as back scratchers LOL

Both my galah and ekkie LOVE pasta raw or cooked. Skye can see me dishing dinner up and she goes wild when she sees it and she it not there to join in. She just loves pasta (actually she loves food in general). i sometimes do up popcorn in a brown paper bag in the microwave and then throw some raw vegetable pasta in for a surprise treat for the birds to rip open.

Well, let's call in myth busters. Of course its fine to feed and has been offered in mixes for decades. Where do people come up with this stuff? Is the the birdie version of the Pop Rocks scare in the 70's? The reason you don't throw rice at weddings is because it creates a traction problem for humans. Its like walking on marbles when you're wearing heels and fancy clothes. And, its messy.
