The School Is Finally Scared!!!

I got a call today from the special education teacher followed by an email that was very apologetic that Eian had not had his IEP meeting last week when it should have been so of course, they want it done right away so they don't get in trouble.

They also now know that we have gotten advocates on our side. One of them called the school today to request the meeting and let them know that their presence was to be expected. The email had a list of people who will be at the meeting and of course, they were already trying to ask me questions and skip over the advocates. I told them we would make ourselves available at any time but that questions regarding the meeting should be directed at one of my three advocates. This is starting to be fun!

My advocate is also going to hold a meeting with the principle after Eian's IEP meeting to figure out why the kept Ethan at school with a temp of 107 and why in the world they called SS on us. It's really nice of them considering that they don't have to help with that issue. They are also arranging for a lawyer in the event that we cannot get the problem solved Wednesday.

Finally, I don't feel like I'm running against a brick wall all by myself! Now, there's five of us bouncing off the same wall LOL

Oh my, it looks like things will really start to happen now. Good for you and good for Eian. All of that nonsense is so unnecessary.

I am also glad that they are going to address the social services issue too. Of course it all comes down to what is best for Eian. Hopefully that will begin to get settled.

Your closing remark reminded me of something that happened when Tay was in 3rd grade:
One particularly bad day... I was fed up. I walked into the office and asked if the principal was in. Not waiting for an answer, as I could see her door was open, I continued through the main office and into her private office. I then turned my back on her and started talking about why I was there. She interupted me and asked why I was facing away from her. I told her I was not so much facing AWAY from HER... as I was facing TOWARD the wall. Once again, she asked why I was doing so. My reply?
(with very pointed stare at her)
"Well, since I feel I have been talking to the wall for the last two weeks anyway... I thought I would just cut out the middle man!"

Did not go over too well. I should think with how totally ticked off I was, she should have appreciated my sense of humor. Go figure!

That's wonderful. It's too bad you have to jump through hoops to get anywhere, but it looks like your efforts will be worth it. Congratulations, I am looking forward to reading the outcome of the meeting.

YAY! I'm really glad for you and your boys! It's about time someone decided to listen to the parent and not just take the word of the school system. I'll keep you all in my prayers that things get settled properly for you!
