PETA has sunk to a new low...fining farmers for cow farts!

I couldn't believe this when I read it. I don't think it will go thru, at least I hope not. Peta is working with the EPA on this one.

Proposed fee on smelly cows, hogs angers farmers

Belching and gaseous cows and hogs could start costing them money if a federal proposal to charge fees for air-polluting animals becomes law.
If passed could put small farmer out of business. Making us import our meat, making meat to expensive for the average family! Thanks PETA

Uuuummmm, I will become a vegetarian if we start having to import meat. At least here in the good ol USA there are standards for the meat that the government controls, and the USDA can inspect the farms here. If you start importing meat from other countries, there is a whole lot less of a chance that it is going to be inspected like it should.

I understand that PETA wants what's best for the animals, but when you start talking abut people's livelihood and forcing an entire country to import meat it is getting ridiculous. They need to understand that they cannot force their beliefs on an entire country- that is infringing on freedom!

Uh NO! Peta does not want what is best for the animals. They want to rid us all of our pets. And since our pets have been pets they should ALL be killed, cause they could never be returned to the wild.

And you...you how dare you put a bird in a cage...peta says that is animal ABUSE! You should be fined and your birds should be killed!

I don't particularly like PETA, but there are not nearly enough regulations put in place to protect the animals and the environment when it comes to meat production. Everything is set to keep the price of the product so low that we throw out standards for animal treatment and environmental protection. I think this is extreme, but could be a step in the right direction. Large beef and pork production is REALLY horrible.

As a consumer I think it is so important to make wise choices about meat. I will not eat beef at all. I think it is the worst for the environment. All other meat I eat is organically farmed by local farmers, where the meat is locally prepared and not sent off to a large production. The meat costs more, no question, but I choose to buy what I consider to be ethically produced meat and eat less of it.

The sad thing is that PETA doesn't want what's best for the animal. They want what's best for their agenda.

"Probably everything we do is a publicity stunt...We are not here to
gather members, to please, to placate, to make friends. We're here to hold
the radical line."
Ingrid Newkirk - Founder, PETA
USA Today, September 3, 1991

“In the end, I think it would be lovely if we stopped this whole notion of pets altogether.”
— Ingrid Newkirk, Newsday, Feb 1988

“Our nonviolent tactics are not as effective. We ask nicely for years and get nothing. Someone makes a threat, and it works.”
— Ingrid Newkirk, in the April 8, 2002 issue of US News & World Report , Apr 2002

“There is no hidden agenda. If anybody wonders about -- what’s this with all these reforms -- you can hear us clearly. Our goal is total animal liberation. [emphasis added]”
— “Animal Rights 2002” convention, Jun 2002

"Arson, property destruction, burglary and theft are “acceptable crimes” when used for the animals’ cause." -Alex Pacheco (PETA)

AT least somebody gets it....PETA IS NOT OUR FRIEND!
They are not here to help with animal welfare, they are here to kill our pets!

Take a look at the difference in animal rights verses animal welfare!
I think we all can agree on animal welfare but not animal rights.

Wow Thank you for educating me. I knew PETA was out there I just didn't realise how out there they are. Help us if they get there way because they are the loudest ones out there.

I cant stand them. And their goal to erradicate all domestic animals is disturbing.

What kills me is they have real influence over breed banning:
