A galah is a rose-breasted cockatoo. I believe they're native to Australia.

Oh I just love galahs and rainbow lorikeets. I held a galah once and she just cuddled me right away. In Philadelphia, where I'm from, the Philadelphia zoo had an exhibition of rainbow lorikeets in 1997. You could go into their aviary with a cup of nectar, and they would land on you to have a drink of the sweet stuff. I had so many lorikeets on me - I was in heaven. It was a hot day, and they had sprinklers for the birds. While I was in there, the ones who weren't eating were flapping around having a shower under the sprinklers. They are beautiful, playful, wonderful birds!

whats a galah!!!!!

yes youre right a galah is also known as a rose breasted cockatoo, we have them everywhere here in oz we see lots of them daily in our area "galah" is also a slang for a silly person and when you see them on the power lines in the rain you would understand where the saying comes from!!!
my rainbow is abeautiful boy/girl?? his name is "cheeky boy" and this suits him to a tee he is loving and sweet when he whants to be and then in a blink of an eye turns into a savage little @#$% he laughs, mimics the phone and the timer on my stove (this can sometimes be frustrating)he also says "give us a kiss" "hello" "hello cheeky boy" " whatcha doing" "cheeky b.s.a.r.d" and "arsehole" (which he certainly is when he wants to be) ps....i have posted a pic of him on this forum..........lol forever cathy from oz

HI

Hello

I was just reading the 10 things you don't know about me, and I remembered reading your entry, Cathy, cos you said you were from Ipswich (or around there.)

I'm at Gatton UQ, and live just outside of the town (we all had to move off the campus, because we had filled a spare room with pets...)

Nice to know there are some 'locals' out there!!
