Do budgies laugh?

Can any one answer this question. Do Budies laugh? My budgie appears to be laughing. He bounces his head up and down really fast and at the same time makes the funniest of chirping sounds.. just like a laugh. Or if this is not the case........ Why does he do it? It usually co-insides with something he has just done of about to do..... rather mischieviously

Sounds like a male budgie possibly regurgitating food... Supposedly, parrots do find things funny, and they know quite a bit of stuff. I really can't say about the noise as I'm not too sure what you are describing, and it does help some if you tells us what he has done before doing so, or what he does after when he makes this noise...

Dear Monica,

Thanks for your reply. One of the things that Charlie does before he "laughs" is jumps up and down from the back of the couch to the arm. He also kicks a ball. Just before or after kicking the ball with his foot he will bob his head up and down and make a fast chirping sound that, i suppose, sounds like he he he he he !!!!! This is why I am curious if it is a laugh or just a playful noise he makes. Yes my budgie does kick a ball and it is hysterical to watch him. He does his own running commentory (in his own bird chatter) at the same time and gets most annoyed if you try to interfer or if you try to get the ball. During this time he is seen to bob his head fast and chirp quickly.

Elaine

Seems to me like head-bobbing (with or without sounds) is a way hookbills show excitement or keen interest, or possibly even amusment.

Charlie sounds like quite the entertainer! :D

Hey, Elaine.
Does he sound like you or someone in your house? My Cory will "laugh" after I do if we're watching TV or something and she sounds like me.
