I am dieing....
Lets see friend buys his 1st house so of course I help him move on labor day weekend... ehhh but the HOTTEST day of the year it felt like.... 107Degrees , NO AC, NO SHADE, and him and his GF didn't even pack before people came to move... I think I just lost about 10 ponds in water weight from sweating in the humid heat all day.
But in the future they should make a law... If your going to move, and you want people to help that all things need to be boxed and or packed before they arrive. I was putting 1 shoe in 1 box and other in another box, remote controls in various boxes so it would be kinda learning experience and fun at the same time hehehe... You don't want us packing! We are their to MOVE, NOT pack your stuff. Anywho off to the street fair, hopefully enjoy some ethnic food, and drink with the irish bands & german bands playing |

The weather has been really strange lately, it is not usually muggy here. I finally got out of moving most of my friends by telling them that I would work free, but they would have to pay for the back doc and the pain pills for the next couple of weeks -- much cheaper to hire a day laborer

Not to be packed before you come over? Awful!
I hate, hate, hate moving! Good thing (sarcasm) the housing market is so awful, because I've had my house up for sale since June 1st, and I've got nothing. *sigh* But, yeah, those conditions sound pretty lousy. This is one of those times when I'm especially glad I'm a woman...no heavy lifting for me! (Not that I'm capable. LOL) |

I can relate to this one.... I bought a pick up a few months ago to haul garbage to the dump (stuff my mother in law left after moving out) and get building materials to remodel my house now I have "friends" call all the time. I even had one call from a garage sale where she had bought something and couldn't put it in her car.
As for the not packing thing.... my mother in law didn't pack either even though she knew MONTHS in advance that her condo was ready. I was more than happy to throw her belongings into garbage bags and put them in her Hyundai and wave as she drove the 1500 miles to her new home in Florida. Guess I'm a little bitter ![]() |

Wow, I feel your pain. I am 70 miles or so inland from OC and its been unbearable the past few days. We had just enough "rain" to make it slightly humid but not enough to cool anything off.
Fortunately I am not a native here so don't have any friends close enough to help move (even if houses were selling). I bought here in June of '05 and sure hope I have no need to move in the next few years, there are far too many vacant homes now, even with prices slashed. How was the street fair? Wish I was close enough to hit those but as it is I would have to stay in a hotel nearby if I wanted to enjoy it.
