Talking Those "bird-people"...

As I posted before, my brother is in town... for the weekend, we came to Los Alamos to visit the BF. Today we went down to Santa Fe with the intent to walk around the center - the pouring rain didn't agree with our plans at all. So we went for dinner, and afterwards to a Borders bookstore to grab a coffee.... as we walk up to the entrance, I spot this little ball of green and yellow racing around on the ground, which was shortly afterwards picked up by a lady standing close by. When we went up, we were honored to meet Mary-Margaret, a white bellied caique. We started talking (of course, nevertheless we're all bird people), and had a really nice conversation with Maggie's human, Lindsey. She also has a bunch of tiels and budgies. We were joined by her friend, Leah, who has a GCC and a yellow-headed conure.
My brother went inside to look at books, while BF and I ended up talking and talking about our birds with those 2 women we just met, how they enrich our lives, and how probably nobody else would understand. Maggie spent some time sitting on our fingers and getting scritches.
After this very enjoyable conversation, we go inside and I finally got "The Wild Parrots of Telegraph Hill" (I figured, I could finally find the time to read it). As we walk up to the counter to pay, the lady asks me why I'm getting this book, and I told her I had birds. She smiled at me and told me that she has 6 macaws, who are currently staying with Julie Murad from TGF as she and her family had just moved to NM and are still getting settled - so, of course, we had to talk about the aviaries and more birds.

Now, are those "bird-people" a special group of people or not?!

I love being a bird person....LOL I can just imagine what it must have looked like to see that little caique running around......they are so cute. I mean if we weren't bird people, we wouldn't have met

It's amazing were you meet bird people. Seems whenever I'm on the phone and Pita starts screaming, the person on the other end will usually laff and start telling me her bird stories....LOL

Tuesday I'll have to inquire, and I'll check up on her McCaws.

We are a special group aren't we.

I hope her little one pulls through.
