Ok now I need to go take another look at the DVD. Definitely an Ekkie there and a black 'too, will see if I can check the tail for particular species to get really anal about it all.

PMSL. Not sure of it was intentional or not but the film makers managed to get the sub species of a female red tail black (yes the tail looks white) which is actually native to the Northern Territory where Darwin is. Missed the Major Mitchell (leadbeater) in the cage with the black 'too the first time.

Any of you Aussies... can you tell me what the warning in the beginning of the film means? I really want to know.

When a person of aboriginal or torres strait islander blood dies their name is no longer spoken. Pictures are no longer looked at. It's to do with the spirit. The aboriginal people are very spiritual.

The stolen generation was understandably a huge issue and repercussions are still being felt in the aboriginal communities today. This was a big part in the movie. For more information on what went on during this part of Australia's history I recommend the movie "Rabbit Proof Fence". It's pretty blunt but gives an idea of what went on. Pretty shameful part of our past.

Interesting about the Aussie cultures, reminds me of our our own native Americans. Funny isnt it the same people who came over to BOTH of our countries and just "took over" Like it was theirs???????????

I watched "Australia" with my boyfriend and he cringed when I yelled out the species of each parrot in that scene :)
