Does anyone live in Jacksonville, FL? We are moving there in January and I am needing help. I have been looking at places online but I have no clue about what they really look like. I thought I found a great apt. then I looked for reviews on it and everyone hated it.... So I am sending out a cry for help.. Someone please assist me.... lol

My parents live there and I just spent 6 months living there. What apartments were you looking at?

I do not know much about Jacksonville, but I wanted to welcome you to the sunshine state! I moved here from Minnesota, so I know how great it is to move to a sunny warm state. I hope your move goes smoothly.

I hope your move goes well! I have always wanted to live in Florida! But I think I'm just staying here in Indiana...maybe one day I can get a condo or timeshare.

That's me, I love Florida, but I'm stuck in Indiana! My family goes to the Indian Rocks beach area every year, we love it. I hope one day I have enough money to buy a condo down there, it's a great place.

I am from the South so I really don't like being hot. I lived in Florida for 15 year and Georgia for the rest. I love winter. I never got to see snow till I joined the Navy.

Thank You for the well wishes.

Kristy, Do you know about the area around Mayport?

Right by the naval base there aren't really many apartments and it isn't a the best area to live. You are better off being near where my parents live (and I MUST come visit you and Abbey when I come down next!); the area around Atlantic Blvd/Mccormick rd/Monument Rd/Girvin rd/Kernan blvd. I worked with a girl who's husband was in the Navy and her and some other Navy people all lived over there. She lives off Girvin. It is not far to the base from there, and it is very convenient with lots of stores and things. The area around Fort Caroline is very pretty and there are lots of big expensive houses there. Just stay east of St. Johns Bluff, after that isn't a nice area. My parents live right before St. Johns Bluff and that is as far west on Atlantic Blvd I would ever live. The area around the Regency Mall is not safe, the mall has the most crime of any spot in all of Jacksonville and that whole area is going down the tubes quickly. Another nice area is Southside but then that is far from the base so I'd stick the area I already mentioned.

I hated driving around in Jacksonville OMG!!!

I love Florida, I'm in Alabama but started out in Michigan and boy do I hate Michigan.
I'm pretty happy with Alabama but still want to go further south where there is NO WINTER!
