What can I do??

I deleted the link to this post- it its just shouldn't be posted. I dont want to upset people.


Long story short a guy posted on CL that he goes on CL, gets pitbull dogs/puppies that are being rehomed, 8 or so at a time, then takes them up north to his 50 acres of land at the end of the month, lets them run for a day or so and then subsequently ends their lives. There is a photo of a dog with a muzzle and a gun to his head. Said he hates the breed and is doing his part to get rid of them. If you really want to see the ad you can go on CL in Detroit.


My questions is - what can I do if anything? I know this could be a joke and a very sick person is out there thinking this is cute and funny for halloween or something messed up. However, if this is real - is there anything I can do? Can I call the cops? Can I get a hacker to locate the IP address of the person who post this and get his address and send cops there? This is just sick. Im ashamed to say that I am from a state that has people doing things like this. I have a no CL rule but a friend of mine who LIVES in that area sent it to me in my email - so I wasn't even out fishing around for bad CL ads, just happened to get this, unfortunately

I am sure that you can report it. How awful is this? Perhaps you can call the SPCA and see what they suggest or if they can track this down.

Maybe I should get the guy to come down to my yard, let him run around for a while then use a whip on him every once in awhile.

OK so I just called the cops in that area and they said they have received plenty of phone calls about the post and are working on getting it removed. I said if they remove it and its REAL than they arent really tackling the problem. He said without finding out who actually posted it they can't really find him or do anything & they suspect its just someone trying to get people riled up. I suggested a hacker but they said they like to use "legal" means. He did tell me that they may use someone to pose as a person who shares this guys sympathies and if he responds maybe they can track him down and find him. I dont know how well that would work but I guess he's right, without knowing who it is there isn't much they can do. I hope they dont just sweep it under the rug and I REALLY hope its untrue - but I know all too well how many sick people there are in this world.

I cannot believe the SPCA would not want to pursue something like this. So if they put that instead of dogs it is "humans' I wonder if they would have the same response????

I have yet to call the SPCA - thats my next phone call when I get a break at work.

Has anyone ever seen that one episode of Oprah where she "uncovered" a manual written by "pedophiles" on how to go about their business?

That's also troll-created. It was sad that Oprah's fact checkers didn't catch that, and of course shortly after it was remixed with another troll meme and thrown up on youtube.

And it was REALLY sad that they even referred to other well-known memes and her staff missed that too.

Considering a google search will hit the first page telling you about the meme. -.-


Anyway..umm.. Seriously. I know it seems scary and people are kind of insane, but that really sounds like a troll either agitating or throwing out another social experiment as bate.

I do know that Detroit's ASPCA has officers who have more 'Juice' that 'regular' ASPCA workers.. so maybe they can get to the bottom of it. All you can do is report it and hope it's a bogus post. There are some sick people out there, and those stupid enough to post this even if it's true...

Yea MissV & Jag, Im crossing my fingers that its a troll, and the PD said they figured it was, based on the photos and the details of the post.

Whether it is a troll or not, it is unacceptable. CL is handled and run by a board and you can post to them. They will have the real email address info that the cops can use. He can be fined by CL up to $3000 for this type of post.
