I am sorely tempted to make it for some OTHER day.
Could you imagine? Just drop it infront of the hubby or something for dinner one night, serve him a finger, and calmly sit down to pray. ^^

Wow, that is really really creepy are real looking. Maybe I can make it with pork, I hate meatloaf...bleh. Or maybe it was just my mom's meatloaf, maybe I can make it better.

When I make it, I use crushed bread crumbs (or crush my own crackers if none is available), egg, and worsteshire sauce. And maaaybe a bit of salt. Mix it all by hand in a bowl....the by hand is important, unfortunately. It's the ONLY way to really get it mixed well. The catch to this is to have your ingrediants sit out for a bit till they're room temperature....but this is only because mixing the meat will FREEZE your hands. It's so painful if you use the products right out of the fridge. 0 _ 0 I have a friend who makes his meatloaf with an entire stick of butter. it is the best thing I have ever had but it will make you sorry for daaaaays later! Also, he's from Louisiana. Go figure! As for substituting....well, I suppose you could use pork, but it likely won't give you the same sort of pattern that the meatloaf does. Meatloaf looks exceedingly gross when baked. I even carved my name into one one time because "it was a damn fine meatloaf" and I needed to proclaim it mine. The oil from the mix just....uh collected in the grooves.. It looked so disgusting in the end! But it was indeed a daaaamn fine meatloaf. XD
