I am sorely tempted to make it for some OTHER day.
Could you imagine? Just drop it infront of the hubby or something for dinner one night, serve him a finger, and calmly sit down to pray. ^^ |

Wow, that is really really creepy are real looking. Maybe I can make it with pork, I hate meatloaf...bleh. Or maybe it was just my mom's meatloaf, maybe I can make it better.

Meatloaf is made lots of different ways....essentially the main component are ground beef and something to hold it together. So there's lots of rooms for variation there. When I make it, I use crushed bread crumbs (or crush my own crackers if none is available), egg, and worsteshire sauce. And maaaybe a bit of salt. Mix it all by hand in a bowl....the by hand is important, unfortunately. It's the ONLY way to really get it mixed well. The catch to this is to have your ingrediants sit out for a bit till they're room temperature....but this is only because mixing the meat will FREEZE your hands. It's so painful if you use the products right out of the fridge. 0 _ 0 I have a friend who makes his meatloaf with an entire stick of butter. it is the best thing I have ever had but it will make you sorry for daaaaays later! Also, he's from Louisiana. Go figure! As for substituting....well, I suppose you could use pork, but it likely won't give you the same sort of pattern that the meatloaf does. Meatloaf looks exceedingly gross when baked. I even carved my name into one one time because "it was a damn fine meatloaf" and I needed to proclaim it mine. The oil from the mix just....uh collected in the grooves.. It looked so disgusting in the end! But it was indeed a daaaamn fine meatloaf. XD |
