What if your dog is allergic to beef! What should I be feeding him? Right now it's Nutro Natural Choice dog food.

If your dog is allergic to beef there is still chicken, turkey, veal, fish and other meats out there.

I try to avoid stuff with fillers like corn and soybeans and meat by products.

I like the blue buffalo fish and sweet potatoe for mine, Dick Van Patten's Natural Balance® L.I.D. Limited Ingredient Diets is another good one.

I want to try Orijen but I cant find anyone close that carries it.

My irish wolfhound mix, Brutus, always has that fowl anal gland smell when he gets too nervous. I always thought dogs just farted a lot when they got nervous until my vet and tech made a comment about Brutus and his nervous anal glands. He is a nervous dog by nature but REALLY has issues when he has to go to the vet. He sweats from the pads of his feet too and leaves misty paw prints all over their tile. Poor kid. We try to avoid that "evil" place when it comes to doggies.

Nutro is terrible food, all of mine got sick on it. I feed chicken soup for the dog lover's soul, weird name, but great food, most feed stores sell it. As for the anal glands, as a groomer and former vet tech, I squeeze so many a day, it doesn't bother me anymore, don't really like having it shoot up my arm, but that only happens with the big dogs, or dogs that have had plugged anal glands, it is pressure loaded, LOL. Alot of dogs can express them themselves if scared or excited, not good for the couch!!

My pom mix releases hers every time she has to be crated to go in the car. I don't take her many places because of that. She is such a nervous dog. She has been a kibbles n bits fan for a long time. I finally got her on Eagle pack Anchovy food after trying countless brands. Its a much better food but kind of expensive and smells like fish. The poor baby has to be put down, probably next year. She is old and starting to lose bladder control. She is aggressive with the kids and strangers as well. I am putting it off for now but it's coming.
Anyhow, glands are a wonderful thing aren't they LOL.

Ewwww I remember when my dog Tara used to always squirt anal juices. It is the worst smell! Like rotten fish and dead animals...

Our Great Dane has CONSTANTLY had issues with anal glands and it seems she's forever having to be taken to the vet to get the expressed! I think she's due again soon because the smell is starting to drive us nuts!!!
