Very excited for you. My hubby doesn't do surprises.

Well I was super excited until he called me with some bad news. He just got the call that his grandfather whom hasn't been doing well (his heart is failing and his pacemaker isn't doing what it should), just took a turn for the worse. His blood pressure dropped drastically and now instead of him going to stay with my husbands family on the other side of town, he now is going to stay in hospice, but they are keeping him at the hospital until a space at hospice opens up. He is waiting to see about getting out of work to go see him. But my husband came clean about the surprise because he might not be home when the call comes in. He was in fact looking into the the Grey girl for me who comes with her cage. He sent me pics of her, but my husband says she isnt a for sure thing ours yet, because there are many people interested, but my husband told him about how long we have been doing our research and all of that. So we will see. If my husband isn't home when this guy calls I may have to handle the "business" part of it if he wants to talk money. Which is a dangerous thing, since I can't say no. Although I hate surprises I hate talking money. So hopefully my husband will be home, and hopefully his grandfather pulls through. I can't seem to upload the pictures right now but I will try later.

Im excited about the grey! but sorry to hear about your husbands grandfather. I hope that he stays comfortable, I know stays in hospitals arent fun. I will keep him in my prayers.

Youll do fine with the business part of it, although I know what you mean - Im terrible at talking money because I will low ball and if they say no Im like "ok" without even a second thought, LOL.

I know in the ad they were willing to trade for something of equal value to the right family. If we couldn't come to an agreement I would just offer up my engagement ring (bad vibes attached to them from previous problems, went over that in another thread). But I don't know how my husband would react to that. I hope his grandfather gets well too but he is suffering and has been for some time. I just pray his last moments are happy ones without much pain.

So my husband did end up being home when this guy called about the bird and all I know is that an offer was made, and the guy is looking at all 4 offers to see which he is gonna take. I don't know what my husband offered, so I can't tell you how confident I feel about this. I have had horrible luck with greys on CL. So we shall see. If this one doesn't pan out, 1. I am going to cry, and 2. I am going to a breeder, absolutely no more attempts at rescuing, unless from a rescue and the criteria for large birds at a rescue is not in my favor. So We shall see. An update on my volunteering too, I plan on getting my membership this weekend and doing the online seminar within the next 2 weeks.

I am crossing my fingers for you two. Dont give up, you never know, something will come along (if this doesnt pan out) when you least expect it!! I hope that the owner is looking at the well being of his bird before how much people are offering him - that is always the most important thing.

This isn't meant to be a 'negative' thing.. I'm just wondering... if your landlord is doing all this really disruptive stuff... like stomping on the ceiling, etc. is this a good time to bring a grey in? A new home, new people, etc. is stressful. I'd imagine that the stunts he pulls could be frightening to an already uncertain grey. Is he going to allow you to have a parrot there? Or wherever you end up moving to if the house goes into forclosure or for other reasons you have to move? Just things that crossed my mind...

I hope it all works out for you. Sounds like you have alot going on!

Our house in Cincy is at the point where all the drywall and stuff is done, and there is only a few things left to do with the boiler so we are looking to head down there soon, probably before the snow hits. My brother is in the process of painting now. And the "bird" room is already ready for a feathered friend. Everything else we want done with the house is all estethic at this point, except the front porch which we have three other entrances besides that one. And I have no clue on the details of this bird, all I know is my husband has made an offer and contacted this person about it. I do know he told them that he doesn't want to bring the bird home right away, we would be going for visits for a couple of weeks so she isn't too upset by the move. And the current owner agreed to that, he isn't in a real hurry to get rid of her, but is looking for a buyer. She could leave as early as Saturday but he liked the idea of transitioning her. But again the verdict isnt out on whether or not she is ours yet. And if she is then Cincy here we come. If not than I will stay here with Hubby until the case over the lease is over and just continue with out plan to get as much done with the house as we can before moving down. So we have thought about the landlord problem with a bird.

My husband is an animal person, he loves them all.....but recently, he has this thing for the feathered ones. In fact, he asked me today---- So, is this new kid going to be like mine! I told him that we will have to see! --- But he is home so he has the advantage!!! I just make it up when I get home by acting silly and they JUST LOVE IT!!!We are lucky that all of our kids like us both at this time! Never know what they will like in the Spring!

Of course, when they want to chill they like to hang out with him! Before you know it your husband is going to be addicted to these precious guys.

My husband even takes Dharma (GCC) to Wal-Mart in her little carrier bag! It is hilarious!

That sounds GREAT! From the sounds of things, that would be a huge stress reliever for you!
