flight suited quakers

We got our flight suits last week for the babies. The babies aren't thrilled but I think they will adjust.

Quinn in the red flight suit has been a real trooper. Putting it on him was easy.
He walked backwards for a bit trying to rub it off. When that did not work he went back to life as usual.

Now Sora in the rainbow suit is another story. She is the most docile one and biggest cuddler but boy she hates that flight suit LOL I cover her eyes and work fast to get it on her. Then when I am done she flips over on her back, grabs the suit in both feet and pushes it from her body. I can not get her to stand up. Every time I get her on her feet she flips again.

I was hoping to have them both adjusted to the suits for their first public appearance Friday night at the Wild Parrots opening at our local theater. But with Sora I don't know if she will be ready. I have one day left to get her standing on her feet while in the suit.

But I say forget the flight suits - let them poop on everyone! They're just Quakers - it's not like Macaw mounds or anything! LOL

They are sooooooooooooo cute in their little suits! Sora is funny and sounds like my friend's little chihuahua; you put a sweater on her and she won't move! Stands stone still.

I have several flightsuits that fit either Chaska or the tiels, they are great for taking them outside with the leash attached so they can't fly away. I was glad I had Chaska on one as she tried to fly a couple times. Your little guys are so cute!

LOL It is not really just for poop though. The times when I will use the suit is when we are out in public. Even if your bird is clipped there is an element of danger taking your bird outside unrestrained. This just makes outings a little safer.

We did a little presentation at WIld Parrots Of Telegraph Hill opening at our local theater to help raise the public's awarness of wild parrots and the plight of quakers in Florida. Having Sora and Quinn there helped draw a crowd and their attention.

LOL Sora is getting better but still spent the majority of the time out in public on her back. Quinn on the other hand jumped right up onto people's fingers and acted the happy little quaker. The local newspaper took a pic of a little girl puckering up and trying to give him kisses. It was adorable, I will be watching the paper for the pic.

I feel a lot safer with the birds on a leash. My other guys go out in carriers but do not come out of the carrier while we are out,

Looks like Quinn has a future in public relations! You are doing such a great job of getting people to see Quakers for the wonderful little birds they are, keep up the good work!
