Some advice

Hello everyone,

I'm new to the whole lovebird experience. I recently acquired 2 lovebirds one is said to be a male and one female, they seem quite shy and hide out in there nest box almost all the time.

I would like to get them to be more social with us humans and It was suggested that maybe I should take away there nest box and I was wondering if that was a good idea or would that be pushing it and having them be resentful?. Any advice would be much appreciated it. Thank you.

The nestbox is meant for breeding porpuses, and lovebirds under the age of 1 should never be givin then chance to breed. It would help to remove the nestbox, and anything else that could resemble a nest, and nesting material. Since you have two, it may be harder to tame them, but it is still possible. Lovebirds usually do well with the *Intensive Love Method* (<--- click name) as they tend to be very cuddly birds.

Ah thank you very much. I was just wondering as the person who gave them to me said that was like there little home. I will go ahead and remove the nest box then. Also do you think I should get them each there own blanket or towel to try the intensive love method?. Thank you once again.

A normal dish towel would be fine, if you want you can have one for each, especially if you and someone else may be working with them at the same time. I myself just use any white dish towel for my birds. We do have other ones, though I just prefer to use the regular white towels... So it's your choice if you'd like to get them their own special towels or not...
