Smile Your opinion

Hello,

I figure I post it on here since there are so many post on the Tiel side of things and this concerns both anyways.

OK my question is I was thinking of building a bigger cage. Do you think the lovebirds and the Tiels could be put in the same cage together or would that just be a bad idea?

The other day the lovebirds made there way into the Tiels cage and hung out and ate the tiels Food and they seem to be ok. That's kind of why I got the Idea but figure I would ask all of you and see what you guys think. Any feed back will be appreciate it. Thank you

First of all, since I KNOW that these are peachface lovebirds, I'll give you the 'low down'.

Peachface lovebirds are EXTREMELY aggressive towards other birds of a different species, and should NEVER be kept with any other species besides other lovebirds. They have been known to even attack cockatoos, and can injure a more fragile or layed back bird. Lovebirds usually tend to be too energetic to be kept with a docile bird, and may be too aggressive that they could get in a fight with a bird that was not a lovebird but had a similar personality.

With that said, in some cases, lovebirds and cockatiels do get together. I know of someone who has an uncle that bought a house that came with an aviary of lovebirds AND cockatiels together, and they live quite peacefully. If your lovebirds and cockatiels get along fine together, then it would be fine, however in general, because of a lovebirds personality, it's not well adviced in most cases!

I had no idea about the Lovebirds so I'll have to rethink on how i'm going to build the cage or maybe just give it some time and see if they can get along and build the cage later. Ah i'm sure i'll figure it out.. Thank you so much. I just learn so much from you guys. I love coming on here :) Hopefully I won't annoy you guys too much with my silly questions.

Veronica.

Veronica, don't worry about any silly questions! That's what many of us are here for, to help others, and to learn ourselves! I think it may be quite possible for you to house your lovebirds and cockatiels in the same cage one day as it doesn't appear that the lovies have shown any aggression to the tiels, which is good!

Ditto that, Monica (who, by the way, is always kind enough to answer my questions!).

The only way to learn things is to ask questions, so never be embarrassed to do so!

Again, best of luck w/ those darling lovies.
