Cool looking good

My normal Peachface, Mosi, looks alot better now than when i got him. He's also become best friends with Dreki, they do everything together But i'm not sure if they are male or female, how can i find out?

1-2 days after i got him:

The easiest way to find out, which may only be 75% correct, is to give him some paper, and see if he is able to chew a strip of paper off, then tuck it in his back feathers. If he doesn't, most likely a male, if he is able to, and able to continue on tucking in more papers into his lower back (or rump) then he's more likely to be female...

Surest way is to DNA sex him!

Here is a photo or two of what I mean about paper tucking... females are more likely to tuck than males, as males tend to be messier, however some males have accomplished this task!

You can try the paper test, but even a hen won't always tuck, only if she's nesty. You can also try feeling the pelvic bones, hens tend to have a wider gap than males, but depending upon age, not always accurate. DNA is the way to go; though please be aware that even a positive male test can be a false positive at times.

Pelvic or more correctly vent bones, and the paper thing are no way to sex a lovebird. Also the vent bone thing isn't even any where near correct if they've never laid an egg before. But if they lay an egg with you then you know it's a hen. Also you have to be VERY careful when vent sexing because you can hurt their reproductive organs. The only way to be sure is DNA.

In the nestbox: 3 pair of keets working the box. In the Incubator: 4 dozen duck eggs and some chicken eggs. In the brooder: XL cochins. Will be breeding bourks once I get boxes and I breed keets now, tiels have boxes, but males have no intrest in female and females have no intrest in males.
