It may be hard to get over the feeling but take your time in making any decisions. Keeping pets always has it's downsides, and most people try to cope with them if they can. You could write things down in a journal or on a program on your comp (such as wordpad, notepad, or any others you might have). You can try typing down all the things you enjoyed about your lovie and say that you wont forget your Kiwi. Know that you did what you could, and be grateful to have shared the moments you did with Kiwi.

Hi,
I know how you feel when I lost my Tiel. I put the cage away and just couldn't bare to think of anyone else living in it or for that matter having another bird. But there was always something missing so my hubby and a few friends convinced me to get a bird again. I got some finches from a friend but the cage they came in was small and after watching them for a little while I realized it wasn't fair for them to stay in a small cage for all 4 of them when I had a perfectly good cage put away. It was a lot of hesitation but I took it out and put them in there after setting them up and I'm not going to say it was easy to watch them play but it did ease some of the pain. I remembered all the fun things she use to do in the cage and they helped the healing process in a way. I'm not saying you should put a bird in your Kiwi's cage just wanted to share a bit and let you know your not alone in the feeling and that at least I understand and it's quite normal. Time heals all wounds.

I'm so sorry about Kiwi's passing. It's not easy to lose someone, be they human or animal :(
I think that Monica's idea of remembrance is a great one. -e-
